We surveyed 998 homeowners (21% currently in an HVAC membership, the rest former members, past decliners, or homeowners who’d never been offered one) on what they value from a membership, what they valued about the product, and whether a low-cost, standalone monitoring offering would be attractive to them. Across every segment the technology adds value — and it does so without cannibalizing the core membership. This report lays out where the opportunity is, quadrant by quadrant.

01
Key Findings of Survey
Two things get compared throughout this report. The bundle is a full HVAC membership (2 annual maintenance visits, repair discounts, priority scheduling & monitoring) priced at $24.99/month. The monitoring plan is a lower-cost, standalone option built around remote monitoring alone, with no maintenance visits included.
In every case, the $5/month offering is valued.True across all four quadrants — current members included.
Quadrant 1 Current members Upgrade
61.8%
of current members would pay $5/month more to add this monitoring service to their existing membership.
Quadrant 2 Former members Retain
65%
of former members say they would have been more likely to stay if this service had been included in their membership at no extra cost.
Quadrant 3 Declined Capture
61.7%
of homeowners who declined a core membership said they'd buy the $5/month monitoring service on its own.
Quadrant 4 Never offered Future capture
65.6%
83.3% of homeowners never offered a membership were lukewarm or negative on the $24.99/mo bundle (maybe, probably not, or definitely not) — yet 65.6% of that same skeptical group would still buy the $5/month standalone plan.
“Adds value” isn't the same as “wins a forced choice.” Current members still prefer the bundle over standalone when forced to pick (52.8% vs. 30.2%) — expected, since they've already made that purchase. Pooled across the other three segments (786 non-members), 61.6% choose the standalone plan versus 12.1% for the bundle, roughly 5:1.
02
How the survey is built: screening & branching logic
Every respondent answers the same three screening questions, then two logic-jump questions route them into one of four mutually exclusive segments. All four groups reconverge at the end on the identical forced-choice question, which is what makes the cross-segment comparison in Section 03 valid. Section 03 presents these same four segments in this order, labeled by go-to-market opportunity — upgrade, retain, capture, future capture.
Screening logic that produces the four segments. Segment sizes are respondent-determined by branching, not quota-set. The 47% share for “Never Offered” is sample composition, not survey design. All four segments continue independently, then reconverge on the same forced-choice question covered in Section 03.

The product is a small sensor that snaps onto your air conditioning vent – where the cold and hot air comes out – and monitors the health and performance of your HVAC system.
It alerts you in advance through an app – or text message if you prefer – when a problem is developing. You get a simple explanation of the problem, giving you the confidence to address small issues before they lead to more costly repairs and an inconvenient loss of comfort.

I like having full coverage and the ability to have someone help me out if I need it
I like having the membership including with the additional charges so its easier to understand.
It gives me the best and most protection against costly repairs
I would still want the bi-annual maintenance in addition to the sensor.
I need a repair plan too
I am not sure this sensor would detect all the possible issues. I like someone to physically look at the equipment and determine if there is an issue. I am not sure how reliable the sensor would be.
Because its more comprehensive and total covering all aspects of the HVAC systme instead of just one aspect
better protection.
because it good looking
That is what I am currently paying anyway, so I just see it as an additional way to track the health of my HVAC and catch problems so I can avoid it dying out faster than normal.
I like the idea of having both human inspections and up-keep along with the sensor updates!
It felt like the best option for me
its one less membership for me to worry about
I would want to still have my annual inspection and maintanence
It gives me the overall security I need.
I think it would be a valuable service
They both would be valuable to me to ensure that I am alert to any problems that may be developing.
I really just wanted the maintenance plan.
I already have the HVAC maintenance plan and would just want to add this on to it.
I would rather still have a full service membership along with the device for dual protection and better assurance.
I believe that the convenience alongside being able to schedule a service is a great deal at $25 a month.
The sensor does not eliminate the chance of my HVAC breaking entirely and does not perform routine annual maintenance it needs. I don't think I would feel entirely comfortable relying on only the sensor.
It makes the most sense when I already have a membership I am paying for.
I already have a maintenance plan, and this would be a nice addition to it.
I chose that option because it paid off.
RATHER THAN PAY FOR TWO DIFFERENT SERVICES JUST PAY FOR BOTH IN ONE.
That price is in the range of my current service so I'd take this as a freebie to see how it works.
Because in a packaged plan it makes more sense and is cheaper.
Better service
cause I have no plans to change the existing plan anyway.
It seems to be a good deal and it's cheaper than I'm paying now.
I find it easier to try to keep services with the fewest number of companies I can.
For a reasonable bundled pricing, the membership includes comprehensive HVAC maintenance and the sensor upgrade provides early detection benefits.
seems more reliable
I live in Florida so having a service person come out immediately when there is a problem is extremely important to me
I would like the HVAC maintenance in case something goes wrong
It seems more valuable
it would never worry about it
My wonderful HVAC system is sensitive and like the attention. I need to keep my current company close as this unit has seen destruction more than once. This unit breaks a lot but I am not trying to get another one now cost are huge.
I like the idea of something more than a sensor
I chose that option because it best reflects my current experience and how I typically handle maintenance and decisions for my home's HVAC system.
I would want the most comprehensive plan that would save me from sudden break downs and problems.
I am already paying a membership with another company so the price isn't a concern to me.
I'm not paying extra for that thing, I already have a maintenance plan that works great. If that were included, awesome but if not, I'm not paying a dime for it
Since I am already paying $30/month for a membership without the sensor, $25/month for membership with the sensor seemed like a better deal
I already have a service plan and would want to continue it plus get the device to monitor my AC. I would not want to pay $5 a month just for the device.
Overall it's cheaper than what I am paying now
it seems more robust overall
It seems like the more effective option
I chose that bc I want the maintenance plan as well.
I felt it offered more value for money.
because I would like to have the membership because I don't know how well that device works and would hate to rely on something unfamiliar.
I want maintenance too, like changing filters and lubing parts.
i want to live worry free about hvac costs if a breakdown occur
I chose that option because it is all-inclusive
I'd want both
It contains both services insted of 1 service
I think the price would be worth it for both in order to monitor any issues and have an HVAC technician be available to fix the issue.
I prefer the routine maintenance over a sensor. I don't trust the sensor to solely help me care for my HVAC or that it would work well. I'd rather routine maintenance with my trusted company for a price I am already paying.
Because i feel it more cheaper with the price of sensor alert device added to it... It's worth the price
Want the full benefits of membership and all that comes with that.
I already pay for service plan, so adding another $5 seems like a value.
It is more efficient.
It made the most sense. What is the point of the sensor if I don't also have a membership to ensure any diagnosed problems can be addressed quickly?
I still like having a technician visually inspect the equipment occasionally.
The bundle is cheaper than what I currently pay.
Beecause its not that much more for additional services, so why not? I would rather pay 24.99, than 2,400.99
It would be peace of mind to have dual protection with both the service plan and sensor.
I already pay for a monthly service and adding 5 dollars on top of what I already pay is a good deal for peace of mind
It's more convenient all rolled in together and hopefully a more holistic and cohesive way to maintain the system.
I like that it is bundled with my already purchased subscription service. I think the value is good for the product.
convient
I believe the bundled service is a good value and provides me with extra security.
To keep my HVAC running smoothly
I feel this would be the best option for me as I live in Florida and catching an AC before it breaks down in the heat of the summer is critical.
I am insurance poor. Same about equipment maintenance.
I feel like this would be more convenient for me and I would have additional peace of mind
peace of mind. Dont mind paying the extra money to know everything is working better.
Additional equipment on my current plan is visible
I already have a service, so adding the sensor on for free or low cost would make sense to me.
I find it hard to believe this sensor would find all problems.
seems like a good value
You get everything in one package — your regular HVAC membership plus the sensor — for a single monthly price. It keeps things simple, gives you all the benefits of early warnings, helps prevent breakdowns, and you don’t have to think about separate services or add‑ons. It’s convenient, bundled, and covers both maintenance and monitoring together.
it contains both services, sounds like the sensor is free
My monthly membership fee is currently $19.99 per month, so choosing the sensor option would still keep me within range of my expense.
more effiecient
The monthly cost of the sensor is minimal.
I already use a membership and feel that the extra for the sensor would be a good overall investment.
I would probably work out cheaper
I would still like a service tech to physically come and check/maintain the HVAC system.
An extra $5 a month seems worth it to diagnose issues earlier
it reduces cost
I really don't want the sensor because I don't believe it works well. But if it's not extra money, I'll try it.
It has a higher quality
It includes what I already pay for and am comfortable with plus the extra service all for less than $30.
Because I think I need more than just the sensor.
I choose this option because I feel it's a good value for the amount of money you pay. I also like being at ease knowing that my HVAC system is consistently being monitored.
i would like to have everything in a bundle
Having the actual maintenance plan is more important to me! Can't live without it!
The sensor is great; however, having a plan that includes the service is far better.
IT HAS MY NOMAL MEMBERSHIP WITH SENSOR ADDED ON ,WHAT WOULD BE EVEN BETTER DISCOUNT FOR PAYING FOR WHOLE YEAR
While the product in question (B) could help identify when things are going wrong, it doesn't satisfy the ongoing maintenance that is needed to keep a system running for the long-term. That is worth a heavier monthly investment because it is more vital to maintaining the health of the system.
I think it would be a great add on to hopefully save on future repairs if I can catch them earlier.
I still like knowing that I can have someone come out and perform maintenance, handle and clean my system. The sensor will alert me to whether cold air is coming out, indicating a leak or Freeon issue. We've had many of these over the course of my life, so i'd like to avoid them.
I think that its all in one would be better than separate. Just one payment
I like having the full package and everything integrated together for piece of mind.
because i would rather still have my membership and also the sensor together to make things easy
I like having a service memebership
Does the HVAC memberhship include the bi-yearly maintenance? I'm not sure what your membership includes?
I would want to have the membership as well because i have service on it twice a year anyway
It help save cost
Package deal always seems better choice

Its cheaper and might do the same exact thing.
Its in my budget and it's good enough to detect if any problem will happen without the membership.
I just need the monitoring as I already have a yearly membership this is a nice add on to that for peace of mind
Seems like good option
I think it is the best choice for me and I can afford it better
Because adding the $5 to the amount of my current monthly charge for bi-annual "checkups" would still be less that the $24.99 charge.
The opinion that i can control with my phone and cheaper.
it saves me more money and can dictate when a problem starts and alert me so i can call for repair.
because it is cheaper and its worth the value
cheaper is the main reason for that thinking
more affordable option
i think this is better suited for my house currently
I think with the sensor I could save a lot of money instead of paying the full price of HVAC maintenance membership.
Less cost
It is more valuable and it is also more affordable to me. I think it has a better value than the other option.
because my maintenance plan plus just the sensor is cheaper than the sensor bundle
its cheaper and as long as it works right the better option
Because it’s an additional five dollars and I could control it from my phone.
Cost
Best one
idk 5 seems better than 25
cheap and convenience.
$25/month is $10 more a month than I'm currently paying. I'd be more likely to go with the $5/month sensor at that cost.
Because I can get that the cheapest option then if something happens, I would go and get the higher tier
More effecient
24 is too much
It's less costly.
I would choose the cheaper monthly expense.
I already have spent enough money on the A/C that has been a pain in the you know what since it was installed.
I think it's the most simple and meets my basic needs.
I like to try new technology.
I went for affordability
It would be a good value for me.
my current plan is cheaper than that even with a 5.00 add on my plan is cheaper
I already have the HVAC membership through the company that installed our AC and heating.
I like that its lower cost and will still monitor my system
i choose b
cheaper and easier to let it roll in because its only 5 bucks
I would need little service
more affordable
It seems like it would cover all of my needs for a fraction of the cost.
The $5 month option gives me the main benefit I’m looking for, early warning about HVAC problems, without paying for a larger membership I may not need.
I can't afford to pay more.
I want the least expensive option that will still help prevent costly repairs
I pay for a plan but don't schedule the service so I am wasting money. I also feel I would be sold a bill of goods of unnecessary repairs if I did schedule the service. This product allows me to KNOW if something is wrong or not
I would likely choose this because I think it would pay off most
It seems a lot more economical and sustainable.
I am currently paying just $99 per year for my current HVAC maintenance contract so adding sensor service would be the cheaper option.
Compared to my current plan, it would be 5 bucks cheaper for me to have them separate.
I think this would be simple enough and worthwhile, while also being cheaper in the long run.
it seemed to be the best option
I like the current company I use and would only need he sensor.
It is much cheaper and more convenient
Better deal
Save $20
because I already have a Hvac monthly service I would just want the $5 device to go with what I'm already doing.
I chose the $5/month sensor service because it provides the most useful HVAC monitoring features at a much lower cost, without requiring me to pay for a broader membership I may not need.
Because I think this can help me keep better track of issues
I will choose that because of the advance warning it gives me
I already have a payment arrangement set up, so the extra $5.00 sounds reasonable.
cost seems more easy to manage
I chose this option just to add to the service I currently get and am happy with. only want to enhance my service if I can.
Its cheaper
it is the best opinion for me
$25 per month is way too much!

My annual maintenance for my heating system has worked at really well thus far.
I'd like it better if I didn't have to install an app.
I think this product would be very useful
Its a good product to have at a low price for some people.
My service currently works well
No, it seems like a great idea. Thanks!
I enjoyed taking this survey and it was interesting to complete
The sensor seems like a great idea. I would like to have additional information about the product.
I would not be in support of additional costs for the sensor, but I think it would be valuable to have.
I think this is a very neat idea and would be good for most homeowners.
My question would be if you would need more than 1 in a house or what kind of HVAC systems it would support, e.g. just forced air or could it handle oil heat.
I'd want to know how it works. Is it communicating wirelessly with the system and putting it on the vent is just to make it a convenient place to remember it? It's not "reading the air," right?
Nice clean study, no issues.
i think it a cool idea if it works correctly
I have a trusted local independent HVAC person.
Not that I can think of
Thank you for allowing me to participate in your study.
No, this seems like an interesting product.
My husband travels a lot of business, and I don't know anything about HVAC systems, so having a membership with a HVAC company is crucial. That said, if they offered me the sensor for an extra cost and told me that I should get it, then I would opt in.
I like how this product is proactive and also gives me more control over my heating and cooling system.
What would be the total cost for the device?
I like the idea of the sensor, I'd just need to know more about how accurate the sensor would be
I would be more interested in how exactly the sensor worked and what it tracked to alert the homeowner
The study was clear and easy to follow. Thank you.
I think that's it
I have nothing else to share.
My current plan is 14.99 a month
I didn't like the sensor. Too much tech and room to fail. I'd rather continue with no changes to my current plan.
I enjoyed taking the survey.
There needs to be more quality in installation and with A/C machines from the get go. We added A/C to a house that didn't have it and have had so many challenges with the machine.
I think the sensor is a great idea and maybe it should be included in your insurance coverage, much like the Ting sensor that helps detect electrical problems.
I question whether a sensor like that would actually work. I would want some good quantifiable evidence to back the claim up.
Not that I can think of.
nothing more to add and thank you for allowing me to take part in your survey
It really depends on how sophisticated the sensor is as well, if it's only measuring temperature variations then it may not be as useful.
Nothing that I can think of. Thank you for this opportunity!
I can't think of anything I would add.
How the device works, is it rechargeable, does it connect to wifi?
I have never seen that type of sensor and would love to try it out.
If the warranty has more services/items, it would be nice and may consider buying it.
I heard about this technology. I am going to call my HVAC man!!
I think this sounds awesome and would love to actually have a product like this.
I don't think so.
i already monitor my system but having a sensor that communicates with my hvac team would help even more
Everything was easy to understand. No technical issues. Thanks
HVAC maintenance is very important for the duration of the system
I appreciate anything that helps prevent breakdowns and saves money. The sensor idea feels practical.
want to know if the sensor is really effective
I want to know if this is a real product. It certainly got my interest. Good luck with your research.
The sensor sounds like a great idea!
This is a great option
The service seems useful and reasonably priced, especially because it could help identify problems early and prevent unexpected HVAC repairs.
WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE AVAILABLE
Not really. But this is a good idea.
I don't think so. I hope I can purchase something like this though
We just replaced our whole system 2 years ago so I guess I'm not real concerned right now about issue with it.
$5/month is worth it to help make my system last. However, I also have ductless splits and want to know what you have for that.
Maybe it would be good to have energy measurement as well to see if its running efficiently or not
Enjoyed the survey! Is this product currently available?

I am in the process of replacing the equipment now, so I didn't see a point in renewing the plan.
too expensive for me.
We didn't use it enough for the cost.
I wanted to save money after replacing my system and I didn't see a need for such frequent maintenance
I didn't, I got it for free when we bought it, then that offer expired, because it was good for a specific amoutn of time
In the process of changing companies
The company pushed the fact that I needed all new ductwork. I had another company come out at they said nothing was wrong with my ductwork.
I did not want to keep paying for the dues.
The company i had subscribe to closed and I am yet to get another company
We sold our house and moved to a new city.
the repair workers were incompetent
Learned how to do much of own maintenance and could not justify the cost of the maintenance plan.
I wanted to save money.
I canceled as the value was being lost, as we never used the services it provided.
I am on a tight budget, I had to trim off some expenses.
Finances changed and was no longer able to afford it.
The cost was just too high
I felt I was paying too much and the company didn't seem all that reliable.
I was having to tighten my budget, and it wasn't a critical service that I needed.
The membership itself became very expensive. I continue to have maintenance done on my units. However, I shop around for the best value.
The service provider went out of business.
Sold the house
So I paid for a membership but every time I call to schedule, I have service done. it’s always comes either through a different company or they don’t call me back. It honestly was more of a hassle than what it was worth.
It wasn't worth what I was paying for it. It was easier to have my installer do the annual service/maintenance. He still gives me discounts on anything else that is needed.
It seemed too expensive to keep doing. I decided to change the filters myself and just call when we had problems.
I started to feel that I could maintain my HVAC system and rarely had any problems, so it felt like an unnecessary bill.
It was super overpriced and then when we did need it, there were a lot of excuses why we didn't get the benefits that were paid for.
I moved to a home with a new unit and the builder was able to deal with the issues that we had come up for the first year.
Installed a new HVAC system, but will find a new membership soon
I couldn't afford the monthly payments
I COULD NO LONGER AFFORD IT AND LET THE MEMBERSHIP LAPSE.
Cost
I moved into a new house and there wasn't an option for a membership on this unit.
It was only used twice a year for routine checks that I could schedule and pay for separately so I didn't feel the need to keep it.
The service would cost more than a yearly or every other year service
It was too expensive and we needed to cut back on unnecessary spending.
I had a new build it came with a 2 year warranty and it expired
money; they continuously went up and would only do a yearly plan in lieu of the spring and fall plan. They offered no discount for paying for a yrly plan so why should I pay for a year when twice a year is the same
Got too expensive for the benefits
I canceled my membership because I wasn't using the benefits often enough to justify the ongoing cost.
I ended up moving into a new house and the city Im in now doesnt offer a monthly membership.
I canceled after the tech did not do a good job and I had to call him back a second time. When it was time for repair I was told this particular problem was not covered under their discounts.
We bought a new system with an included plan
efficiency
It seemed like everytime I called and they came out, the part was not party of the warranty plan
because of membership fees
We had a maintenance contract on 2 HVAC systems and the company basically provided a service that cost us $3000 and then when they came out again to fix again because it didn't work, they said we needed to replace both becaue they were end of life. They quoted us $25000 with their "discount" so we decided to get bids from 3 other companies. We ended up going with 2 better units with a total cost of $19500. That include our crane cost because the units are rooftop - 3rd floor. We will never use that other HVAC company again.
They were always trying to upsell and most things they said needed attention weren't covered by the plan.
money was tight
I had one for my business, but I closed down the business and I do not really use my HVAC at home enough to warrant a constant membership
Cost too much
i did not see the need to continue
I didn't cancel the membership.
I couldn't plan maintenance around my schedule. Their times were too broad.
I was paying too much and did not have too many necessary problems.
It came with a new AC purchase. We got one year free. It included two tune up, a waterheater cleanout, and a discount for service calls. It was quite expensive to continue though.
They did poor job and tried to upsale.
It was a free six months with new units but I didn't really need anything because I can do some of it myself and otherwise I can just schedule it. I don't like subscription based payments.
it was unnecessary for the operation of our havac system
I didn't the local company I was using shut down
I was reducing expenses, and it felt less than necessary.
we moved to Flordia.
There was no benefit to paying upfront.
becuase is expensive and mi equipment is warranty appealing for change
I didn't use it, and the company was difficult to get ahold of.
Covid made funds low
i had issues with the AC for years. They would come out every year-sometimes more and add freon. and not fix the problem. I had to pay for the freon too. I ended up buying new AC's after years of no help.
It had expired and I didnt renew it
I feel like it wasnt worth the cost.
We moved to a new home and didn't need to spend the extra money.
the expense, it was too expensive
The membership was actually for my business, which closed with the pandemic. It was incredibly nice to have someone on call who knew the unit, had been servicing it for years already, and also knew how to access it on the roof...? All handy things. For my home, we haven't had a membership like that, but we did just have to replace the entire unit this past year.
I thought it was overpriced. I didn't use them, except for the scheduled annual checkups. I never wanted it in the first place. I was younger and a new homeowner. I didn't know any better.
I cancelled my membership becausei got a new cooling unit and i felt i won't need their servise for now.
I bought a house and haven't really look into it
I felt like it was too expensive and the technicians had zero clue what they were actually doing.
We moved and I did not continue it due to the difficulty of reaching out A/C. We now get our furnace checked once/year and A/C twice/year.
I didn't want to renew my membership, it was too expensive. The company would try to upsell me on services i didnt need.
The cost vs the actual amount we used it did not make it worth keeping.
I didn't feel there was value in the membership
We actually didn't cancel. The company we used decided to close.
BASICALLY I JUST DIDN'T WANT THE EXPENCE AT THE TIME
It got too pricy. My husband switched jobs so we were not making as much as before.
I canceled the membership because I wasn't using the benefits often enough to justify the cost and I preferred to pay for HVAC services only when I actually needed them.
Times got alittle hard because I got separated from husband and had to tighten up on my money
I would go a long time without using it so I thought I would do fine without it to be honest. I never considered it a priority.
The company tried to force me to buy a new system and didn't do the full inspection and coil cleaning as specified in the membership agreement. Dishonorable behavior.
I found a different service provide that had lower costs without a membership plan.
i cancel my membership because the price went up to much
Got divirced
Didn’t need it. I got it because it was cheap the first year
at a point it become a bit expensive for me to afford
I paid monthly and really only had service once a year, and it didn't feel worth that. Paying once a year made more sense. It stressed me out less.
I ended up moving and the local HVAC group did not offer a membership/.
The monthly cost of the membership steadily increased with no end in sight
I didn'tcancel my membership
It's a personal situation thing. Can no longer afford this year's rates.
Because of the cost involved and lack of training on many aspects I discontinued sdervice some as heat were not necessary but in the greedy world we live in today gouging people is a common past time
It was a little too cost prohibitive compared to addressing issues on a more reactive basis.
I was struggling financially after losing a job and I had to adjust.
Because they were giving bad advice and lying about the condition of ACs.
It got to be way too expensive
because of money but i may get it back
The cost of the membership didnt save me much money and I don't feel the company performed very many preventative measures for the cost.
It did not seem like it was worth the price. Our HVAC system is newer and should be working well for the next several years.
Money got tight and I could not afford it
It was too expensive and I didn't feel like the workers were actually doing proper maintanence.
Since I'm on a limited income it got too expensive. But I know that whenever there's a problem, the company comes promptly and is very professional and fixes the issue in the same trip.
It was a complementary one year membership when we purchased our new HVAC system. When it expired, we did not feel it was worth paying for a membership for yearly maintenance when we could swap out filters on our own.
financial struggles
I felt like I wasn't getting a lot of value for what I was paying. Because I wasn't having any trouble with my unit, the fee did not feel worth it. I felt like I was paying for nothing. I wanted the company to take more initiative and offer more value.
The membership was through "Hiller" and was $99.00 per year and then after the first year the price increased and it was unaffordable.
I felt the twice yearly maintenance was light in any actual maintenance that I couldn’t do myself
Didn't utilize it that much
I CANCER BECAUSE WE HAD TO MOVE SO I CANCERED IT AN NEVER START BACK
I was given a one-year membership by my realtor when purchasing the house. We used it a few times but decided not to renew.
I cancelled because the cost of the annual visits were the same as if I did not have the paid membership. I realized I could just call the HVAC company to schedule a tune up and the price was the same with or without the paid membership.
We move from the house where the membership was into a new home and didn't feel we needed a maintenance membership because HVAC system was new. In 5 to 10 years may considered getting one again as system ages.
No reasons, I just decided not to subscribe to it anymore.
It got expensive after the first 2 years
My wife lost her job and I wasn't able to afford it anymore. We had to cut back. She has a jobn now and I will probably redo it.
I kept paying but wasn't using any services.
The company that I had the membership with proved to be untrustworthy.
I never used it, and felt I only gained a small savings on regular checkup on my equipment. It was not much cheaper than just having a yearly scheduled appt outside this membership.
I canceled my annual HVAC and cooling system membership because I no longer felt I was getting enough value from the service to justify the annual cost.
Because each time I had to call them outside of the annual checkup, they told me I needed new equipment and gave me an astronomical estimate.
The last time the company came out , I was told my unit would cost too much to repair , and get getting recommendations to replace the entire system. They left without even trying to repair it. I found another company, a retired Veteran that opened his own business . He came out, made the necessary repairs and its been running for several yrs now . I do not expect it to last forever, but, I want a company that will look out for my interests. Im 71 and on social security.
It was too costly for our family especially when we didn't have any need for it since it was a newer system.
I didn't.
I Installed a new system and would like to start looking for the membership
there was not value to it and waste of money
Our income had been reduced and we needed to make adjustments to monthly costs.
I never had any problems with my HVAC. After several years of the program, I had several frustrating experiences with HVAC and questioned whether there were real issues or if they were trying to get money out of me by finding issues.
Canceled the membership because I relocated to new home without HVAC system.
It was too expensive and I wasn't using it because my system was working great but now I think it was a mistake and I showed get a plan again.
didint have a need to have it anymore
We ended up having to switch companies and just never set up a new plan. We just call to get the cleanings scheduled.
I had canceled my membership due to high expenses.
It costed less to get someone to check out when a problem came rather than paying annually for membership

Having the maintenance plan seems more valuable. For one thing, I'd rather not have to remember to schedule services, and it seems like the plan costs about what the services would anyway.
Covers all the services at once
with the membership I'd get all the other benefits along with a discount for using the sensor
Seems very cost effective at $300 per year.
Best value and best potential end results for our system and our home
Well, I picked that option because if I have a sensor and it’s telling me something is wrong, I can go right into my phone and go right into the app. Reach out through my membership services and get out where in the past anytime something gonna happen. yeah I paid for memberships and things like that but nothing like this they would connect me out to two multiple different companies or I want a call back or I will get them out here. They tell me nothing was wrong and then I have to bring them back out like so we’re having that sensor would be a huge relief for me.
It seems like I would get more value out of that membership.
Because i love being able to have maintenance on call as well would love the add-on to help prevent future problems
added more value at a low cost
I'd like a HVAC tech to still come out and tune up everything
I could have a company to call or schedule at ease.
I like what it offers and the price isnt bad
Its seems reasonable to pay for a service that monitors and fixes for a decent price.
That is a lot cheaper than I thought you were going to say! That is completely affordable.
It is the most comprehensive coverage option
That seems like the best option to me
It had the features that I need.
I would want the whole package to keep my equipment working properly
because you get the service and the sensor
I think over time it would pay for itself
This also give me the benefits of been a member and also maintenance involved.
The $5/month sensor provides the features I find most useful at a much lower cost. I don’t feel I need the additional benefits of the full HVAC membership enough to justify $24.99 per month.
It is a good bundle to have. What good is having just the sensor with no plan to fix what is wrong.
That choice provided the most benefit, in my opinion.
I think it's better to have a two in one option rather than paying half price and wanting a HVAC membership later.

It seems like a good deal
Better deal
It seemed as though that was the most practical, but now that I think of it, maybe not.
It seems to fit my budget more
it's cheaper / more affordable
It is cheaper
It is more economical and achieves almost the same purpose.
The offer of retrieving the credit accumulated for future repairs was a good offer and cost saving.
Cost friendly for my budget
The first one was just too expensive
$25 a month just isn't feasible in my budget right now
I like the idea of my system being monitored by a non-human
Cheaper and it would be helpful to have.
I feel that if I have the sensor, I don't need to spend extra money for the membership when I can do some of the maintenance myself.
Because i don't think i would look towards the hvac service until my unit were around 5 years old.
I would like to see what the sensor can do
IT SEEMED TO HAVE THE BEST VALUE FOR A MUCH LOWER MONTHLY COST.
Cheaper
I'm cheap.
I feel I would be better informed of what I need just for $5/month
It's cheaper and would still provide some peace of mind.
I chose option B because it gives me useful protection without the higher cost of a full membership.
After my previous problems I would not trust the maintenance plan. The sensor plan sounds like a good idea.
Lower cost
economical
Because it is cheaper and does the work for me by informing me of when something might be an issue
It seems cheaper with just as many benefits
I am not interested in a service plan because my previous experience.
money tight
I think having the sensor gives me enough peace of mind
because it is the best option for me
It's economically.
I could hopefully try it for a couple of months to see how it works before committing to a longer plan
Cheaper and still does what I need it to do.
More affordable and I can see what is going on with the equipment myself.
cost effective
I felt the benefit was worth $5 and is certainly better than $25/mo.
I don't want the expense of another monthly fee over twenty dollars.
is more appealing for comfort and confident for me and the credit use later
I chose the cheapest option that met my needs.
lower cost
I thought 5$ was good deal
Seems more logical.
Less expensive
I'd be more interested in just the sensor. Then I can choose whoever I want to repair.
Paying monthly is always better for me.
I think the second option should be enough for now. If my HVAC gets older and starts to have more issues, I'll go for the first option
Easier to track on my own
because i feel most warranty companies will try to upsell their services that are not necessary
I'd rather have the cheaper option first to see if I benefited from it.
RIGHT NOW FOR THE COST. BUT I WOULD CONSIDER THE OTHER IF MY FINANCES WERE TO CHANGE
It cheap and will serve the purpose well.
I thought the other option was not actually worth the money.
I'm not interested in HVAC membership programs.
my funds are low
The other fee was more than a service call
its much more cheaper
I feel like I am getting charged for something I do not need and the sensor is designed to tell me when I need something.
It seems cheaper and more peace of mind
It's the most effective and I would rather monitor on my own and reach out if anything shows up as being an issue.
It was cheaper
Because I have zero trust in HVAC companies.
It is incredibly affordable and will help me decide when I need to call my HVAC company.
because its cheaper but yest still watching
I want to try the sensor for a minimal fee and see how much it benefits me. I've already tried memberships that I wasn't impressed with, so I likely wouldn't do that again before trying the sensor by itself.
I think $5 a month is a very good price to monitor my HVAC system
It's cheaper and more affordable long-term.
I don't know if the membership would really be worth it or if we'd use it enough to get the full value, but I would be more likely to pay a much lower cost for the sensor, especially if the monthly cost came back in maintenance credits with the HVAC company.
It is cheaper than the other option
Cheaper for the year
$25 a month adds up quickly if I don't use it. If I repair my capacitor in AC unit after a year that's $300, would be cheaper to just wait and make repair if it goes out.
I would not need the membership if I had a sensor providing a warning for any issues in the system.
Because it is obviously cheaper
cheaper plus i feel like knowing ahead of expensive issues is good enough
I'd rather have the sensor and pay monthly than pay an HVAC company monthly.
Less money and probably does the monitoring that A offered without paying for A.
I would NOT use the old company I had under any circumstance . I like the company I have now and I would like a sensor like this and Im sure my HVAC company would approve . They might even be interested in offering this sensor service.
25 dollars per month is too much compared with 5 dollars per month.
It is cheap and better
It is less expensive but it will give me a sense of peace knowing that it is looking after my unit.
seemed the best for me for my situation
We always try to save money so went with the cheapest.

I'd like the device if it was a flat fee instead of a monthly service.
My current thermostat monitors for things like this already but I don't pay anything extra for it.
became disenchanted with HVAC company that installed our system so prefer not to have paid maintenance plan with them
I hope my answers help to further your research. Thank you!
The gadget is a very creative idea if it is accurate in its operation.
it seems like a cool thing to have...but not if I am paying $60 per year in perpetuity.
This sounds like something I would at least try. If it works as I am imagining.
This is very exciting! Where can I buy one!? :-)
Sounds like a good idea.
Thank you, this is a great idea and needed by many.
I HOPE THAT THERE IS A SERVICE THAT OFFERS THAT SENSOR . I PLAN ON REPLACING MY HVAC SYSTEM SOON AND I WOULD LOVE SOMETHING THAT PREVENTS LITTLE PROBLEMS FROM BECOMING HUGE BILLS . THAT SEEMS TO BE WHAT THAT SENSOR CAN DO.
I like the sensor idea, not sure what all it would be able to catch.
Have a wonderful day!!!
interesting didnt know this information
The study was very interesting, and I'm glad to be part of it.
Does the device actually exist?
I'd like to know what info the app shares with me
I like the credit idea.
I do second-guess myself about maintenance contract values.
great idea if comes to the market
the credit is offer for me is great and appealing for membership
I dont know about HVCA membership
This idea is really neat, but the monthly subscription is my biggest hang up. I want to buy something and be done with it, paying for it forever is tough. Now, if every dollar I paid was a credit to my account, that could sway me? But I suspect I'd feel like I would just be overcharged and the credit over time didn't actually help me. I dunno, I don't know how to come around on it.
I hope this is available for purchase one day
sounds like a cool idea
I LIKE THE CONCEPT OF A SENSOR FOR THE HVAC SYSTEM
Does this actually exist? If so I would purchase it in a second.
The survey was clear and interesting.
I wouldn't mind a monitoring device integrated into my HVAC system, but this sounds fake.
This is a great idea, I would definitely be interested.
I will always like something that does not add too much to my already huge bills
I honestly would really love to buy this product
I don't have anything else to share.
No, but I am certainly sick of subscription fees for every single product in my life!
Neat idea if there were a way to purchase it without a monthly cost.
AC repairs are too expensive
Yes, I would like more information on this sensor . As stated my unit is old , and this could be very helpful . Thank you !
Good idea to use this product!
I have had two HVAC membership services in the past. Both gave me trouble.
It was interesting to learn about that new device.
I always stress about my HVAC so I would really like to have this service of where it could tell me easily if something was wrong.

Because I purchased a 10 star unit. Even after 7 years the service techs tell me it looks and operates like it was brand new. Once I have to recharge with refrigerant gas.
The subscription model of everything is a horrific anti-consumer trend.
I didn't feel the value offered was good enough. I would rather just schedule tune ups as needed.
At the time I just didn't want to get locked into paying a monthly fee when I would rather just pay for a tune up whenever it actually needs it
because it felt like it wasn't going to do enough for the price they were asking.
because my house is 2 years old and i already have a warranty on the HVAC on it so i was not in a rush to purchase a membership at that time.
I didn't think it was worth paying a recurring fee since my system runs fine and I only need occasional checkups.
Was too expensive
I was in the process of cutting costs until I can get my credit card debt down to a manageable level after my move.
I did not feel that a fee was relevant to the care my unit needed. With proper cleaning and scheduling checkups a couple times a year, my unit has been doing well.
I feared forgetting to schedule the maintenance and losing the money I had paid.
Because prior to this particular technician offering the maintenance plan to me (when he was out for a cleaning), a technician from a different company told me that residential systems only last, if you're lucky, about 10 years. If I have to replace it, at best, every 10 years anyway, I might as well save that money for a new unit.
Well the amount it cost was pricey and I couldn't afford it on top of repairs.
I just had my system replaced so I didn't think I needed it.
I did not purchase the membership when it was offered to me because I find that the HVAC company who has a contract with the membership company I purchase with does not show up as fast my personal HVAC technician.
I didn't want to be tied into a contract.
I feel like I lose out whenever I buy protection plans so I just pay when I need something fixed.
I thought it was overpriced
It was too expensive
I generally do not buy warranties or service agreements. They are usually not worth the cost
house was new
because i dont trust them and theyll recommend repairs or maintenance things to purchase that are really necessary
I decided not to purchase the membership because I have a home warranty.
those subscriptions services or warranties are usually never worth it in the long run. you are better off just putting some money away every month
The price was too much.
i think it was a cost concern, didnt want another reoccurring expense.
cost
The cost did not seem reasonable for benefits
I thought that it was unlikely that something would go wrong. I didn't have the spare money to buy the plan and didn't think it was worth it.
The services that were offered were part of the typical annual maintenance I do myself.
didnt think i needed one due to the warranty on it
Because my partner is a welder, mechanic and just a skilled trade worker in general and he knows how to fix our HVAC when something goes wrong.
It seemed too expensive to pay for monthly.
We didn't think we would need or use it.
Knowing my own laziness, mostly. I would be unlikely to set up the annual (or whatever timespan) maintenance and so would end up paying for something that I don't use and likely void any related guarantee.
I didn't want to incur the cost as my unit is faily new.
The cost of the membership was more expensive than the cost of repairs.
it feels like too much for that
I thought it would just be easier to contact service when I am ready for them to come out once a year. This way I can manage the cost rather than just be charged.
It seemed like a lot of money to pay, only to be charged again when the heat pump broke anyway.
i talk care of it myself
It was a really stressful time when I got my HVAC replaced and I felt like I was being taken advantage of.
I figured, at the time, the warranty would cover anything that went wrong and I could take care of cleaning myself.
I couldn't afford it.
The cost was to much for a service I think is over valued
It just didn't seem worth the extra ongoing cost compared to how infrequently I actually need service. I prefer to handle things as they come up rather than paying a recurring monthly or annual fee for something I might not use.
I think when a technician comes out to check on the equipment they always will find something wrong
didn't seem like something I needed in the moment but i'm open to it.
They were expensive. Indeed, my friend is a technician and do everything the unit needs.
I just felt like it was an uneeded expense unless something was wrong. When comparing prices it just didnt seem needed.
The cost didn’t seem worth it for how little maintenance my system has needed.
I deemed it not needed at the time since my equipment are new and I nthink they don't have major problems to worry about.
I'd rather only pay when there is an issue instead of paying monthly to supposedly prevent issues.
Because I have too many memberships and subscriptions and I don't need maintenance but every few years . Id rather save the money and pay out of pocket if something occurs
Too expensive at that time.
If it was new and I remembered the maintance I saw no need
Well, I figured I would pay to get it fixed whenever it broke, rather than paying a monthly fee. I felt that doing it that way would be cheaper overall for me.
I usually maintain things myself.
It is too expensive when we can do most of the maintenance ourselves.
It's just more money spent towards nothing, honestly. It's not terribly hard to do your own maintenance.
cost alot of money
Because at the time, the cost was too high and wouldn't meet my monthly budget. However, when we did have an issue and contacted the team who installed my new HVAC, the charge was very reasonable, because we are an ongoing customer in their mind.
I feel like the membership always comes with them breaking something and then saying that it needs to be fixed. I feel like they are looking for or creating problems with their maintenance plan in efforts to pad their pockets.
I'm expecting to replace my system soon
I would just rather schedule it on my own time
The cost was too much for what we could afford at the time.
the price was too high
I don`t believe it was worth the cost. I felt it was overpriced for the service.
Correction because I had lost my job at the time and didn't have the money to
The home I purchased was a new construction and did not think I needed any AC plans just yet, but looking back I think I should have. My hvac system is only 2 years old.
It was just not in our budget. We just got the house
It felt like extra money for visits I only need once in a while. I’d rather just book a tune-up when I want one instead of paying every month.
I was a new homeowner at the time and wasnt sure if it would be worth the money to pay each month. I also had a new built home so i thought i shouldnt need any plan since i had a warranty
it wasn't the best service
Pay money when service not needed.
I cannot afford it, we live paycheque to paycheque
HAve family and friends in the industry so they can walk me through most stuff.
I was not prepared to pay the money.
It's an unnecessary ongoing expense.
I feel that when I purchased my new HVAC system it would not have any issues for a while. My old HVAC was put in in the 90s.
It cost money and my husband works for a restoration company and get ours serviced at a cost that is significantly less.
I did not purchase membership because it can be costly
At the time I had a different house with a newer unit and home warranty coverage
It seemed unnecessary and too expensive.
It was too much money at the time and we didn't think we would be staying in the house more than 5 years.
It was at the time of installation and we were in a tight area moneywise, so we decided to shop around. And there were better options elsewhere. But, ultimately, we did maintenance on it ourselves and hired someone occasionally for a tune up. So, basically monetary reasons.
I am not sure if I want to stick with this company coz they always suggest me to fix something or replace the whole unit
I don't like memberships in general
We were not expecting to stay in that house for long and were remodeling it for sale
I thought it would be more economical to do basic maintenance my self and only use the professionals if I need help
I wanted to explore other similar options I could compare and consider, before I commit to one.
I didnt think the cost was worth it
I didn't think it was worth the cost.
It was a bit costly.
Our home is brand new, so all the appliances are also brand new. The HVAC has a warranty so I'm not worried for now.
Too expensive $265/ annual visit
it was just too expensive
The unit is relatively new and offered 2 years of free maintenance checkups so I never bought a plan.
I did not feel the need to purchase the membership as I have a HVAC person that I rely on. And I remember the fee was not too expensive, but not too cheap either.
I felt that the plans came out to often for what I needed and prefered to schedule less appointments on my own. I also did not want to be locked into one particular company.
I do not believe it is a good value. I change all filters regularly and check the equipment myself for any wear and tear.
Didnt have the money to afford it.
I didnt think I would need it at the time as everything was working pretty well.
It seemed like it would cost a lot more money then I would spend if I just dealt with the problems as thy arose. In addition, I have it serviced every few years which is probably cheaper than paying a monthly fee for not a lot of maintenance.
It seemed like too expensive for what they actually provided.
We have used the same company for years and they offered a plan, but work best by calling them as needed. For instance they said theyde come and replace the expensive new air filter every six months and when we called they suggested to get it online.
the equipment was new and so At the time, additional cost was not a priority
Because it is cheaper if I fix it myself.
Cost
At the time I couldn't afford it.
They offered me when I got the equipment but it looked like a very high price. I usually got some coupons with a decent price
I figured that it was not worth the cost when I could do my own maintenance and just call a company when major things broke.
My HVAC has worked well with semi-annual maintenance, a paid monthly or yearly membership doesn't seem necessary.
I didn't want to pay extra for the membership
At the time committing to subscription was not feasible.
The installer told me it's not really needed and that it's simple to maintain myself.
I find that paying for memberships can be like paying for insurance. It ca cost over time about the same as if I just paid for the repair. Or sometime there are hidden costs I have to pay for.
because i didnt want to spend the money all the time.
Needed to do more research.
The HVAC system is new and I was not worried about any sort of issues.
It felt like an unnecessary recurring expense since my system works fine and I prefer to pay for services only when I need it.
My system was band new and I did not expect any issues.
I thought it wouldn't be needed and is an extra scheduled cost.
at the time i didn't have it in my budget to be able to afford any extra
The cost didn’t seem worth it for a yearly visit.
I am not making a regular salary in order to purchase.
It's a waste of money versus the effort it takes to maintain my HVAC equipment.
It was a brand new unit, still under warranty. There was no need for the membership yet.
The price was a bit too much for me
Far too expensive
We dont usually need it and havent had any issues
too costly at the time
I believe that at the time, I just felt like I would not use it enough to justify the cost.
I did not want to purchase just because I feel like its not really worth it to me since I rarely have problems with my system.
I just didn't have the extra money for it
We were in the midst of moving to a new house, and we had just had our HVAC system replaced (both the furnace and AC were new installations). We had to budget, and we chose not to purchase the membership in order to reduce on immediate costs.
After consideration, I determined that the membership offered little value.
I did not want to add a monthly payment to my bills.
Because it was offered just after I bought the house, so money was extremely tight. And I couldn't justify another expense. So made the decision to kick the can a little bit and just hope my system didn't need any attention in the short term.
I don't think it is worth the price. Also, most of these systems are built to last without much maintanance.``````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
i felt like the cost wasnt worth it
I recieved an offer via text. I did not have the time to set anything up because it was a limited time offer that was only good for that day.
I have a family member who works in HVAC and is generally able to perform any repairs cheaply
Most HVAC units automatically come with a manufacturers warranty - a lot of the time, these memberships are a duplication of that coverage.
It was mentioned when the unit was installed and I was all for it. I thought maybe they would contact me later, but they never did and I forgot about it.
As far as I understand, an HVAC unit is a closed system. Nothing really needs to be topped off. The biggest thing is changing filters and cleaning the equipment, which I am comfortable doing myself.
All they were going to do was to wash off the unit and clean the coils. I can do that myself.
Since the equipment is so new I felt I would rather not spend extra on membership and would contact them if I need something.
There is usually a better discount that comes up
because its a scam
I felt it was not neccesary at the time
I didn't think it would be something that I needed.
It was too expensive
too expensive
It didn't seem to actually be saving any money as there was still a service fee and normal fees attached.
didnt want to pay the fees
I didn't find it necessary
I had already spent a large amount getting a total unit replaced after a complete failure and I was cash strapped. I haven't thought about it since then
At the time it seemed expensive and not worth it.
At the time that it was offered I wasn't financially capable of purchasing a membership at that time and it service person that I'll hold off and maybe I will do it at a later time but I didn't.
It was unnecessary at the time, and was not financially affordable with the budget I had.
It was really expensive.
I was not thinking I would need it that much so I felt spending the extra money would not be worth it for me.
waste of money.
Our system is in good shape and they just made some changes on it. I didn't see a huge need to have them out every year.
Seems gimmicky. I don't know what it includes for monthly price.
The idea was that it may or may not need maintenance over the first few years. We already schedule Yearly cleanings and duct cleaning
I was a new homeowner at the time and worried i was going to pay for something that i wouldnt end up needing.
I didn't want to pay for something I wasn't actively needing to use
Too expensive
I did not think it was worth the cost of it
Money issues
The monthly cost is too high for the needs.
I did not feel it was worth it. In addition, I signed up for a membership plan for a different appliance and it was completely not worth it. I did not use it at all, and they never mentioned an early cancelation fee tied to the membership.
The cost was too high and not in the budget. The system was expensive enough.
“Why did you choose the $24.99 bundle?”

respondents who picked option A in the final forced-choice question

Well that was more affordable than I have been quoted and it also had the sensor.
I selected this option because I would be able to know in advance if there was a problem with my HVAC. This would then allow sufficient time for the HVAC company that the membership company is contracted with to have sufficient time to come out to my home to make the repairs.
seems more reasonable
I think it seems like a better value to include the service as well. The sensor just seems like a way to try to get me to spend money.
I feel like the value in maintenance might be worth it and I can acutally see if something is going bad with my unit.
I think it's the best of both worlds for a very affordable price, I get the service contract and also get the sensor.
The sensor by itself just attached to a vent seems it would have very limited information
I feel like the information provided by the senor alone would not make it as valuable. If I did have the sensor in place, I'd want a company on standby that knows what to do with the info and how to address problems indicated by it.
I would prefer to have the service in addition to the sensor so I wouldn't have to worry about what to do when the sensor goes off.
i am now in the place where i can afford this preventive care
It is not that bad of a price and the credits help pay for services
Because $25 a month is not that huge of a commitment. Especially given the potential cost of HVAC repairs. So would see it as an investment rather than an expense.
The price is offset
better run for your money in long run
That way I can receive the credit for the sensor by having a contract.
“Why did you choose the $5/month offering?”

respondents who picked option B in the final forced-choice question
Show all 108 responses
Good value for the money. Peace of mind
It feels more cost effective and the cost itself is negligible.
because it felt like a good deal monthly
The five dollar price point is much more affordable for me, and I only want the sensor alerts without paying for a full monthly membership
I still prefer to call for HVAC service when needed rather than pre-paying, when possible.
That seems like a small amount to invest in my system to keep it running at max capacity.
It is cheaper
I need to keep my monthly costs to a minimum.
Price
less money out of pocket
It is the cheaper option. I would like to save money.
I like the cheaper option that doesn't have a lot of unnecessary stuff
The plan was less expensive.
its a more reasonable cost option plus getting money back as a credit makes it more appealing
budgetary constraints
The monitoring may be able to find issues and help me get ahead of them at a far more affordable price.
it doesnt seem too expensive for something like that
I think our household would benefit from the sensor but not the more expensive plan just due to my partner knowing how to professionally fix our HVAC. The sensor would give me peace of mind, though because I sometimes question how good it is actually pushing the air etc. sometimes.
Less money paid out.
I would prefer to set aside money in savings for any future repairs, rather than pay for a monthly membership.
seems less and that I quite at any minute I imagine
$25 per month is fairly steep, I think at least. My thermostat does have reminders on it that are set - when to change the filter, when to schedule service, etc.
Again, $24.99 per month is a lot, when maintenance might not be required for more than a year. The $5 a month is more reasonable, especially if it is returned in the form of credits. Although, given the probability the AC company is owned by private equity, they probably price the repairs far above the discount offered by the credit.
25 dollars a month is high.
I can't afford another service that is $25 or more a month.
Because its affordable and it practice preventive measure
It strikes a great balance. A low monthly fee makes it affordable and painless, and rolling that amount into a future repair credit means the money isn't just lost—it's essentially a savings account for when maintenance is actually needed.
The cost is lower
it would give me needed peace of mind which I really want more than anything.
Cheaper, more cost effective. Essentially does the same job and makes it less stressful on owners.
It gives me the benefits I care about at a much lower monthly cost without paying for a full maintenance membership.
It is a cheaper option as compared to the other.
I cannot afford such larger than needed recurring expenses
Cheaper option and gives me peace of mind the hvac is being monitored
I consider the membership a bit expensive.
that is all you need to keep on top of things its cheaper thats a plus
Same principle. I just want to save more money without wasting it.
Cheaper.
only need this
Because I like the idea of tracking it by my phone, then I can decide if I need a maintenance guy to come over. The 24.99 is still too high or costly for me to buy into just a maintenance plan.
it's cheaper and I have more control with the maintenance
it is the lowest
cheaper
$5 for the sensor is cheap enough to try. I don’t want another $25 membership when I just book a tune-up when I need one.
I just feel like i dont know the product enough to pay almost $25 a month but i am willing to give it a try at the $5 a month until i understand if the higher option is needed or desired.
I dont want the membership.
its cheaper.
More cost effective for me
It's cheaper.
I feel that the sensor would be enough to alert me to issues and it is cheaper.
Option B would be better for me because it is the most affordable.
It is cheaper
Monthly cost is worth the price of knowing the health of the system. I don't think option A is worth the price.
I would like to try the sensor first and see if it works
I don't expect to live in that house for much longer but this option would impress potential buyers
I dont feel the service is worth it
Still would prefer to compare similar options/competition to get the best value.
It is significantly cheaper, and I don't think I need maintenance every year.
It's lower priced.
cheaper each month
It is a cheaper option that builds up credit for me instead of me having to pay a monthly or annual fee that I may never use.
As I mentioned, I don't think I need a membership and it costs too much in my opinion. But the sensor seems like a very good alternative.
Cheaper option and the money goes to future repairs. The monthly membership fee does not.
It is the more economical choice and I think the added options are unnecessary.
The sensor seems like a good way to monitor without paying other unnecessary monthly fees on maintenance.
I just don't think I need a monthly service. I'd rather put the money towards actual repairs. The five a month monitoring is cheaper and five bucks is reasonable.
Our household is in crisis right now and we are cutting back on spending. Once we stabilize, we might be interested in a maintainance contract. I see it as a good value to protect our investment. We had the ac fixed 6 years ago and payed it off already.
the unit equipment is still too new for it to be a concern.
Because its only $5 monthly.
I still don't feel that the monthly preventative maintenance plan is worth it.
I think that monthly price for membership is too high.
Seem the more thrifty way to go, especially in this economy.
Since the system is brand new, I don't expect any problems anytime soon. I might consider many years later for something more comprehensive.
Seems like the most useful and has a cheaper rate.
i want the cheap option.
Cheaper and I like the peace of mind
It gives me the smart monitoring benefits without locking me into a costly monthly membership.
My system is still pretty new
less monthly payment
because i can put the unused credit towards anything i need.
I feel the membership is too expensive.
less costly and likely preventive
I like the concept of this device and $5 a month would not affect me as much as the other price would.
cheaper and seems more convenient
$5 per month is less of a monetary commitment, and I want to save money.
This option seems to offer more value than the other option shown.
In my option the option of paying $5 a month for the HVAC sensor would be more economical then paying $24.99 a month for HVAC maintenance and sensor.
the sensor should automatically come with the membership. If a person only needs to get repairs when the system breakdown this fee would be more advertising than paying for a membership fee.
It’s a great deal!
I'm not paying $300.00 per year for a HVAC "membership".
More cost effective.
It's cheaper and effective
because it's less expensive.
I think it is enough to help the HVAC system last longer
less expensive
It would save money
less expensive
It was cheaper and $25 a month isn't doable right now.
Since it's a sensor system that connects to your vent it can detect any problems way before things get bad so I could probably handle doing any of the repairs myself before I would have to call a professional to do it and that would save me a lot of money based on just a $5 a month plus if I never need to I get credit for it so it seems like a better option to go with.
It's much cheaper and I would be able to track and tell when I'd need service so that I could prepare for it rather than paying out $25 per month when service isn't needed.
Its less expensive.
I would prefer to keep any subscription i might not use all the time as low as possible
Cheaper option as long as monthly fee was credited.
Its 5x cheaper while still providing an excellent value and service
I just need the membership and the sensor
least expensive route for the best quality
it is more worth the cost and is cheaper
It is less expensive.

Everytime I get a service performed the final bill always comes to $100. It is a rip off in my opinion. Especially after you paid $5000 for the unit.
I don't feel that the benefits justified the cost
The device sounds very interesting, and I hope it exists!
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take the survey.
I like the idea of the device.
HVAC is expensive to run anyway. Paying even more per month in case something breaks is an additional cost that households don't need to pay.
I see some real value in this at the point of sale for new HVAC units.
Private equity should be banned. It's another reason why you can't trust any "maintenance plans." Just an opportunity to bilk customers one more time to help some New York investors.
I don't know how reliable I find the device.
I've been doing a pretty good job taking care of it myself, 25/mo sounds like a lot over time.
The concept of a low-cost monitoring sensor combined with a repair credit makes a lot of sense. It provides peace of mind without feeling like an unnecessary, expensive subscription.
If the monthly cost stays low and the payments can build up as credits toward future repairs, it would a good feature.
It's a good idea but I'd also look for something that doesn't have a monthly charge at all.
I liked the device, I'd love to buy something like this outright on my own at a hardware store etc.
If you would like more of my opinions on the matter, kindly subscribe to my Opinion Service, intro rate of $4.99 a month.
I think it's a great idea to have one of those sensors on your HVAC system. I have something similar to my hot water tank.
This is a very interesting concept and very interested in something like this for my home.
The repair credits would make the $5/month easier to justify than a membership.
This sensor would be very handy in keeping my HVAC in good repair.
This is definitely something I would be interested in purchasing separately and not through the HVAC company.
The sensor is an interesting concept, especially if I could receive credits for future repairs.
I am surprised that such a service is new. I think this technology has been around for a while.
If the sensor is a real product, I may be interested in purchasing one.
I really enjoyed this survey! I'd be happy to take more in the future.
I do not llike subscriptions services, they are generally a waste of money.
This was a very interesting study
I like the idea of being able to monitor the health more on my own.
The product is a good idea. Ide never heard of something like that but immediately i understood how it could be helpful.
I would love to know more if this is something that I could actually buy
Is ability to add subscription when the system is 10 years old an option?
i have two units in my home so thiis would be great for me
There is nothing further I have to add.
peace and love to all
Maybe have it so the monitor can just contact the HVAC technician directly (If you have a plan) so then the customer doesn;t have to do anything.
Nothing additional. I would be interested in a service where I could monitor my AC system via my phone.
sell the device as a one time cost and let people decide what to do based on the information provided
A quarterly or yearly fee of 5$ might be okay in my situation
none, interesting survey and I hope this product actually becomes real!
I like the ideas but id prefer monthly services i may not use to be as low as possible
We usually look for discounts on duct cleaning and AC maintenance

May find something cheaper with more benefits
I don't think it's necessary
Im not sure if it would be worth it in the long run Ive had to call 1 time in 5 years
I believe the cost out ways the cost of having it serviced occasionally.
I dont know if it would fit in my budget as things are very tight right now.
I don't think it's worth it. I don't think I need 2 maintenance visits a year.
It seems like a lot. I rather only have service when needed. I am not sure monitoring will prevent breakage.
It doesn't make sense to pay monthly for a service that would happen 2x a year. Also I am maintaining HVAC on my own.
just a financial decision, money's too tight
do not need it
I don't have many problems with my HVAC to really need a plan.
I just wouldn't want to play for anything I am not using.
Price is to high.
25 dollars a month would be like 300 a year, I'm not sure if the value would be worth it.
I do not have enough in my monthly budget to add that amount to it when I don't have monthly issues.
That is a big charge per month, you only need to get your HVAC serviced once a year, plus 10% off is hardly anything, 30% would be more worth it
I do not like paying for memberships
The cost per month sounds like it might be higher then regular yearly maintence.
If I'm paying a monthly fee, 10% off isn't enough and I'll still have to pay a service charge fee.
If the unit was working well for a long time and the cost would add up to more , not justifying the purchase.
I like to limit my recurring expenses. My air conditioning equipment has been very reliable.
$25 x 12=$300 for just 1 yr is a lot to pay for something that isn't needed and probably wouldn't be used for a few years at least here, I'd rather pay when/if I need then give money away for something I may not need
I don't see the point in paying for a warranty that I really wouldn't use. This looks like a money grab.
My husband is HVAC certified
I'd have to do the math to make sure it's going to work.
It may prove to be more expensive than just scheduling the two tune-ups I do per year. I'd have to crunch numbers more to know if it would be worth it.
I am an HVAC Contractor. I service my equipment myself.
It seems pretty expensive, $300 per year sounds excessive for what you get.
A lack of experience or trust with whoever is offering this plan to me.
That is way too expensive!!!! We rarely need maintenance on our system so would end up spending more for the maintenance plan than actually getting it repaired and looked at as needed.
The 24.99 cost seems like a lot, and the only benefit that I would care about is the 2 yearly check ups. This would be a cost of 25x12, which is around $150 for a visit, which I feel is too pricy. I could probably just schedule a servicing once a year separately and not feel locked into a subscription. I don't like subscription models very much and try to avoid it when I can.
I would not purchase it because why do you only get 10 percent off, and you only get visits? kind of worthless.
Issues don't arrive often and my HVAC guy has very good pricing so this price would not be worth it for me.
price is a bit expensive for fixed income
Two maintenance tune ups would cost less. Since the system is new I have 10 year warranty and 3 labor year service warranty. So the service call oart is not needed now.
My husband does most of the maintenance/repair, so I'm not sure if this would make financial sense.
I am usually a guy who does not purchase extra things....as I have money set aside for repairs.
I have yearly maintenance done by a local business. They cared for this property before I bought it 13 years ago, so I trust them.
Don't have the extra money for it
The cost is high but I would consider it if I had more time to think about it.
I haven't had problems so far so I feel like I would be paying more than a one time visit.
That seems way too expensive for what you get out of it.
Seems expensive for a "just in-case" situation
I haven't had any issues with my HVAC system in the 10 years I have lived in this home. I live in a remote area and I dobut there would be anyone that would offer this type of service.
Most if the time nothing happens with the AC or goes wrong and if it does we have a maintenance guy who comes and takes care of any problem that may arise from it and it is no charge to us nor our problem. If I owned the property where I was living I would probably buy the plan but as of right now and until we get to another place than we dont need the plan that is being offered.
Might not be necessary.
The $25 per month made me feel like it wouldn't be worth the cost, if in general I would need service 1 time every 2 years or so.
seems expensive over a year, just schedule regular service couple times a year
Right now, I think the price is too high for my budget.
I don't see the value in purchasing this plan. I also don't have to disposable income to purchase it.
We schedule the service check yearly, which seems to work fine.
It seems expensive for services that should either be free and other services are already expensive regardless of paid membership
is this needed? what is the cost of how much you spend on your hvac etc
Monthly fee is no different than a robbery
That would be about 300 dollars a year.
I have a home warranty proggram that takes care of this
Honestly, I don't need repairs done that often, and I feel as though I could put that 24.99 to better use.
usually things don't go wrong too often to justify it
After all the years I have had my HVAC system, $25 a month would buy me a whole new one. It is not a money saver for me.
I think that for $24.99 I would be better off just paying for a tune up by itself.
We bought our house new construction and it isn't quite 6 years old yet, so I'm not overly concerned with a problem happening at this point. We change the filters regularly ourselves. Also, paying $300 a year for 10% discount doesn't seem worth it.
I am not sure paying $24.99 a month is worth it for the benefits offered
I prefer to do my own maintenance work.
TOO EXPENSIVE MONTHLY
Theres only a few mechanical features to a furnace which all can be sourced from ebay for a fraction of the price compared to hvac supply companies if you can even buy from them. The replacing of the part in the unit is extremely straightforward and youtube has a video to coach you through it guaranteed. And AC units are the same and/or cheap enough to just replace the entire unit anyways.
The guy who works on my unit (if anything were to happen) lives in our neighborhood.
It seems like it is just for a membership but not for any work that might be done, so I am out $50 a year for nothing.
I work for the same company that installed my HVAC system so I get parts at cost and free labor if anything goes wrong with it. I probably wouldn't spend money I don't need to for another plan right now.
Because I think it is a waste of money
It seems a bit expensive for what it is.
I would just wait until it breaks.
My fiancée is a building engineer and knows how to repair just about anything we would need.
Depends on how it is compared to market for same type
Cost is too high considering how often I usually have my unit serviced.
If I had the spare $25 a month I would get it, but $25 a month for 2 visits a year is not in my budget right now.
I have only had one repair issue in over 20 years - that's 240 months at $25 thats $6000 by my math - I got a new system which hit me for 12K - the 10% off would have saved me $1200 - not a good return on $6000
Its just another subscription service designed to seperate people from their money
The value doesn't seem to be there.
I just dont think they are worth it
I don't have any extra income.
It seems like a waste of $25/month, which I simply can't afford. I would rather just pay for maintenance as needed.
Money is very tight.
cost of the membership
my husband is HVAC certified, so he does all of the work to it himself
I think that I can do maintenance on my own.
I dont feel the membership fee is worth the value of the services provided.
Too expensive.
i think the equipment will last a long time. i bought an expensive house
My HVAC is brand new and has been reliable thus far, so adding another monthly subscription plan for something would just be a lot.
It seems expensive for what you get. I'd have to compare the cost to the discount offered, compared to what we do now.
It's cheaper and easier to wait until it starts acting up. I usually spend around $100 a year to maintain, something goes wrong only every few years
24.99 is steep and the likelihood of something going wrong is low/we could fix it ourselves. Plus, I am all subscriptioned out. Too many these days!
That is expensive and the two maintenance items, I can complete myself. I have already done extensive repairs myself since we bought the home and with the exception of a refrigeration issue, I am confident that I can complete repairs on my own. I also have a home warranty that includes HVAC just in case.
I’m not to sure. I’d have to do more research on the average cost.
I don't have the extra money.
24.99 a month seems a little high. I schedule maintenance twice a year and that is cheaper in the long run even with repairs
Because I'm on fixed limited early retirement Social Security income and I have absolutely no disposable income of disposal income in my opinion is what is left after you bought your food groceries paid all your bills et cetera et cetera I have none I get $959 a month from that I put aside $430 each month for my mortgage taxes and property insurance what is left after that covers everything else bare Actually it doesn't with one for online work like this I would be on the street
Unless they were coming out and helping me clean, maintain my unit I would not be interested.
I am not sure if it is really worth it, at that price it does not seem worth it to me.
That's a lot of money
its expensive
I would just deal with maintenance as it comes up
It's not something I've ever thought about before. We hardly use our central heat and air (maybe 2-3 weeks in the summer and 5-6 weeks in the winter).
the cost could slowly increase over the year.
I do not have a lot of extra income for things at the moment. I also feel like in the event of a major issue it is going to end up costing me about the same in the long run. I do not feeling like the almost $25 extra a month is going to be worth it in the end. Sort of like insurance, it seems there is always an out for the company to make their money in the end
The cost.
I may purchase it if my system worked.
If I save $25 a month for this purpose, it'll likely cover the cost of repairs within a reasonable time frame. Product Protection is a huge moneymaker for a reason.
I would prefer to put the monthly fee equivalent in a high yield savings account and take the money from it when I'm in need of a tune-up or repair.
I address issues as they arise, and I know how to fix most issues myself.
Expensive for what it is. You'd probably pay around the same just scheduling it yourself yearly.
It seems a little high to pay monthly, but for just 2 service appointments.
I like the idea but currently wouldnt be able to fit it in the budget. So I would just pay for a repair if one was needed.
Seems expensive
I'm not really one to sign up for random subscription markups that companies offer. If they were worthwhile, capitalist entities wouldn't offer them.
Too expensive.
I'm uncertain if the benefits outweigh the cost.
It seems a little too pricey.
I don't want a monthly payment. I just want to request a service when needed.
It seems too expensive for whaat i need
I don't know that I have cost averaged the benefit of regular maintenenance
I cant afford that.
This is a service that should be free from whomever installed the product within the warranty period. Charging the service and then still charging for repairs is grimy.
My heating system has been very reliable and seldom has any problems. I also do not want another monthly bill.
I wouldnt think the price is worth it, unless its a older system or older than 5 years, But 25 a month? that seems extreme
I'd rather pay out of pocket for the service calls, and the rest of the benefits don't seem worth it.
I don't know, just never thought about it.
Although the price is fair, it is more than I could currently budget
Not enough included for the money spent.
I rent
too expensive
not sure if i would get much use out of it
I complete maintenance and repairs myself.
Money is tight right now and we are cutting spending in every way we can
I need to read the fine print. When things go bad, I don't want to be told certain discounts or services dont apply to me. Unless I have a strong recommendation from a person who used this service, I may not sign up
Since our system is newer I think it would be a waste of money to have this subscription.
I can do most maintenance myself
I would put the 300 a year towards the repair of my HVAC system.
if i dont need to use it then its a waste
I have tune-ups included in my home warranty, my A/C is old and I live in a desert so for now I would lean on my home warranty to keep it maintained. If I use that, they will help pay for replacement when/if it needs to be replaced.
$25 a month is pretty expensive.
I live in a small town where not only is this unavailable, the local service people are affordable and honest, and I know them.
Not sure if it is worth it paying that much a month and they are only going to check on it twice a year.
I picked maybe and that is purely financial
bc i am cheap
Its just one more cost that I dont want to incur over a months time period
Not sure if it would be worth the price. We haven't had many maintenance issues
I would want to compare the cost with my expected maintenance and repair needs before committing to a monthly plan.
10% doesn't seem enough of a saving to warrant $25 a month.
I think it is a waste of money.
It seems like a lot to pay 25$ monthly for something that works and it's fairly new. I try to call a service once a year to inspect HVAC and it costs about 100$
I most likely would not purchase it because i do not use HVCA ofetn enough.
Because that comes out to around $300 a year which would probably be more than it would cost to just have someone check on it occasionally
Only 2 visits per year for that amount. I rather just call someone when the unit breaks.
expensive for the use we give to the equipment
I live in a very remote area and I would not consider it because I would be reluctant that no one would provide services in my area.
it is a bigger cost than the worth to me
It seems expensive and it's cheaper to have a maintenance tech come out when I need
By paying almost $300 per year, I would either want free basic maintenance repairs or a higher discount
I don't think there is a good return value for what I am purchasing.
I don't think it's worth the money
i have so many monthly bills as it is...getting harder to keep up with them
It would allow the opportunity to ensure operation integrity, good to have
money's already tight. gotta save where i can.
only cover the 2 visits 288 a year is not good
Too expensive
i just change the filter every 3 months and wait till it breaks and that works for me
I perform the maintenance myself.
I think it is too expensive for something that usually doesn't have problems except once maybe every 15 years
My HOA Covers it
It don't think I would use it enough to make it worthwhile. I recently had the HVAC serviced and it's in good working condition, so I don't anticipate needing most of the benefits.
It seems like a small expense with a lot of benefits, but when you add up ALL the little things you pay for every month the final number comes out much bigger than you expect. Every. Single. Time.
The cost is not something I am prepared to incur monthly. I have savings for any maintenance/repair needs.
i would have to figure it out in my budget
Although I see the benefit I do not like the idea of having another subscription type model that I am paying for.
It's too expensive to pay $25 per month just to have someone on stand by if needed. There's no reason to need a membership for HVAC when you only need to have someone when something goes wrong.
This doesn't feel worth it to me
i do not see a need for it. this scenario is just a waste of $25 a month. i can call for service when i need it without paying a monthly fee
id be concerbed that it would not be worth the expense.
too expensive
I don't think the monthly cost would be worth it in the end.
I have a whole house unit that was built back when thing were still built to last. In 22 years it has only needed one maintenance call and that was last year. The guy that put new coolant in it said it should last me another 20 years. Why would i waste my money on something I don't need like a monthly fee to maintain something that has only needed maintenance once in 22 years?
Because I have enough stuff I have to purchase in a month and prices keep going up. If something happens I will deal with it at that time or not.
It is an unnecessary expense, most hvac systems installed within the last 10 years do not require ongoing maintenance other than changing the air filter on schedule and clearing the condensate line if applicable. This can easily be performed by the homeowner.
I would definitely need to know more about the plan. The specifics of what is covered, when, and why or why not.
I don't have enough money to do that and even if I did the benefits do not seem to be worth it for how little I actually do need help with this.
convenance
i havent had an issue in the 10 plus years
Not sure I'd need it, so not worth the money
I'm trying to limit the amount of subscriptions i have.
I haven't really ever had issues with my HVAC service and I've owned my home for 20 years.
because I feel in the long run I would be losing money
we are on a really tight budget and just don't have the extra money
Due to my current financial constraints I would not be able to afford the additional monthly bill. I also feel like essentially $25 per month is bit much compared to tune up costs available in my area.
$300 a year is a good chunk of change, i likely would only use one visit.
It feels like a waste of money for some basic cleaning and care that I can do myself.
I don't feel the need.
I don't think paying that much is worth it. I would rather just pay when and if something goes wrong. I'm not dumping hundreds of dollars a year into a plan that isn't necessary.
I would say at that price, I would self insure myself. In other words, at about $25 per months if you save that money back I've got about $275 per year to back when I have to make a maintenance call. Also, I do the work myself if necessary.
I don't call an HVAC maintenance person annually now, so it seems I would be spending more money on something I don't necessarily need.
This seems like an extraneous expense. I haven't had many HVAC problems.
i am trying to cut down on memberships/subscriptions. even though it seems responsible and something that i should look into as a homeowner, im so sick of the monthly costs of everything
I would shop around first to see if it is worth it
not interested
My partner is very handy and fixes everything. We had to call for assistance to get the gas for cooling replenished, and two other times when we had issues, my partner ended up figuring out that a piece needed to be replaced and did him himself, quicker and cheaper
We hardly have problems with our HVAC and proabably spend less than $24 and month it
Because I dont like to pay a fee in case something happens
I would have to consider my budget and see if it made sense for us.
I don't find such plans a good value.
The cost seems to high for what it offers
That's too expensive for this kind of service. Heating/cooling system for my condo unit will probably work work 10+ years. This kind of maintenance plan will cost me $3000 over 10 years. It would be cheaper to pay out of pocket for this kind of service.
It costs too much
I do periodic maintenance on my HVAC, and I thought (I hope) it has been sufficient enough. The perks of the membership does not look like something I would need.
The price of $24.99 is way too high.
Because I think my equipment doesn't require much maintenance, usually my husband knows how to do it
That seems very expensive when projected over 12 months. I would be better off saving the money into a savings account to self-insure.
You have to do the math on the cost of the membership vs. the cost of just scheduling your own maintenance as needed
I have family that is this field and they usually take care of anything hvac system needs, so i dont feel like i need to spend the money on this on top of repairs
Do not want the extra payment.
I don't think my system is old enough that I need regular maintence.
Finances are tight
I'm not sure how much I would use it.
the cost
The economy is bad enough, I wouldn't want to tack on another monthly fee. For only 10% off repairs it would not be worth it to me. High priority is also not sounding credible.
I don't know how important it is or if it is really needed.
It depends on what else I am paying for each month and how many bills I have.
It's way too high for one. Plus, I can take care of my own system for the basics and if I need anything and I can always give them a call.
That seems llike it's quite expensive for two service visits, and only 10% off on repairs. I don't feel like I get a lot for that price.
it seems expensive over the year
i would just pay the cost when i need it
There's no real content to the membership. I'm paying a monthly fee for a marginal discount on the repairs I'll need regardless. I'd do better to just put the money into savings and gain minimal interest on it.
it would not be worth the money a month because I have had my un9t for 4 years now with no issues or problems at all
Because maintaining on my own works well
I'm not sure the cost of the membership ($300/year) is actually worth the value it provides me
You would end up spending more at the end of the year than if you just pay for the service. Thats 400 a year for 2 tune ups. If you dont need serviced.
It seems expensive and I rarely run my HVAC system as is.
This feel like a high cost compared to what I would spend on a single annual tune-up.
If I chose not to purchase the plan, it would be because I couldn't afford to pay that amount monthly, as I usually schedule maintenance occasionally and when needed as opposed to having a strict schedule.
I already have financial strain currently; I take care of my house on my own whenever possible.
It's not that I wouldn't, I would just need to think more about how much value I am getting out of it per year
I don't have any extra money to spare. If it were cheaper I might.
Most service calls cost less than the $150 per visit in our area.
I don't believe it would save me that much money. I would rather just pay for a regular repair.
Over the last 15 years or so my personal experience with HVAC companies has been such that they will always try to sell me something I do not believe I need or else they will out and out tell me something is wrong such that it requires a whole new system rather than a fix. Specifically regarding maintenance contracts most of my neighbors who have them say all the guy ever does is change the filter and occasionally vaccum the bottom of the furnace. But if anything serious is found they find a way for the issue not to be covered under the contract. I would rather learn how to do basic maintenance myself, which I do such as changing the furnace filter regularly. I simply don't trust these vendors anymore to be honest or fair.
I would rather schedule maintenance myself. That price seems expensive.
Doesn't seem necessary.
I feel like it is not worth the cost.
Sounds expensive for something that would probably not be used. I try to minimize the amount of exploitation from capitalists.
I think the price is more than I would want to pay on a reoccuring basis.
I feel that it is unnecessary
I don't think that I would consistently break even.
It is another monthly expense that I don't really think I need.
The price is a bit too high and I'd rather have less occasional maintenance.
I am on a limited fixed income so cannot justify more monthly expenses.
All i can think about right now is how poor I am. $25 a month for a memebership on something i may or may. not need is silly right now.
Because my husband is capable and handy and handles all HVAC related matters
Because I have enough bills and just trying to survive, can't add another bill.
I do not think it is worth it. I would rather pay for the repair and maintenance.
Because it says it reduces my service call fees. If Im already paying a subscription, they should come out and fix it, not give me a discount.
The cost is just too high per month
I do not often like subscriptions/insurance to cover purchases. It seems like they don't cover things well
It's a little too much per month.
Im not sure if I would purchase it or not. The price each month doesn't seem bad initially but it would add up over time.
Just let it ride with occasional tune ups and fix what I can until something it can't be fixed anymore
I don't feel it's worth the money.
$24.99 seems too expensive for such a service.
I think the price is too high
Will I actually make use of this? im unsure
Too expensive. I already paid nearly 7k for my new unit a few years ago. I am not paying another 25 a month just for servicing when I only pay 120 each year for a cleaning and service checkup.
I am not sure it is necessary
I'd rather wait to see if a problem arose instead of paying for this. It seems like on top of the membership I'd still need to pay 90% of fees for services so I'd rather wait until a service is needed.
Too expensive.
Because my husband used to work in HVAC and knows it all.
That is way too expensive and most maintenance I can do myself
Money.
Money is tight.
It is a little too expensive to only cover 2 cleanings and just a measly 10% discount on a repair. At that price its almost like having insurance on it and for that much money I would just get insurance on it that actually replaces and repairs the whole thing not just a discount.
I could just save the $25 a month and it would more than pay for the services my HVAC needs on a regular basis.
Money is tight and just couldn't afford it.
We have a local independent contractor who we trust to do regular service.
Because I don't have the extra funds for that service
$24.99 per month comes out to nearly $300 per year, which is a lot of money to me. This would be in addition to any repair costs (even after the discount).
I'm broke
I know a bit about maintaining the system myself so nearly $300 a year seems like I'm losing money.
Would not be able to afford the $24 a month for a just in case issue
In my experience HVAC systems dont break down that often where i would need a monthly plan
I cannot see paying 25.00 a month on a system less than five years, just in case. Especially, if I only get two months of attention out of it
it's a bit expensive
That is just another monthly bill. I haven't had any problems with the new unit.
I have geothermal heating and cooling, so it probably doesn't apply.
Tight finances.
It seems like it is not used very often and might be wasting money. I'm not sure about the cost/benefit of having a membership.
My husband tends to fix these things first
Times are tough, don’t want another monthly payment
I am on a tight budget. If money was not an issue, i would definitely purchase it.
I don't think I'd want to pay $300 for a service that I may not need.
That seems like a lot of money for only 2 visit for the entire year.
Pricing does not seem worth it
Not sure it would be worth it for a newer HVAC system. Maybe in the future.
I'm basically paying $300 for 2 service repairs. Just not worth it to me at that price
I feel like it would be cheaper to just make the repairs or do the maintenance.
That's $300 a year for basic service and a potential discount. Seems excessive
I just don't feel I need another monthly subscription service plan with how tight money is and our Hvac system works well.
maintenance plans and paid for warranties are a scam and a waste of money
they would need to offer, coming out and fixing it first.
It is too expensive at this time. Considering that my HVAC unit is relatively new, I do not feel like paying nearly $300 a year for a maintenance plan is a good use of my finances.
I already have it serviced 2x a year and it costs me about $200 total. I have never needed a repair visit outside of that window.
Because the system is new and won't need any fix so 24.99 monthly cost would be a extra spending for the budget.
i never buy subscriptions because i never use them
It is too expensive and I most likely wouldn't need two visits per year
A price appears too high and too much for me to consider.
I haven't had any issues yet, and I feel like paying for a membership is throwing money away if I do not need it at the moment.
25 is expensive a month for maybe not using the service
I just don't think it's worth the money right now.
I fix most things myself.
Right now, my HVAC system is almost a year old. I do not think I need one this year or maybe the next year. I do think preventive maintenance is important and saves money and headaches. I would consider getting one if finances allowed at that time.
It isn't worth the cost.
I feel that the $25.99 per month is a price I'm not willing to pay for the services provided. That's over $300 a year for something I may not need.
Since I manage my HVAC system myself and keep an eye on it, am pretty confident in my ability to keep it running. Have the system served every other year and that seems to keep it running in good condition.
We do the simpler maintenance and would only need it when something goes wrong
It is far too expensive for a new system.
Too expensive considering things have been working well.
My husband and son are able to do the maintenance work on our unit.
Not sure it's worth the cost.
It seems like a lot for the benefits it provides.
Because I know it would not be a good deal if I had this plan it would cost me $300 a year plus you say I will get a 10% discount any time a HVAC system breaks the repair man always raise the price double or triple in the summer heat. So I will say no to the plan it's not worth it I would have to pay more money out of of my pocket in order to have this plan.
Because it is very unlikely that the hvac will stop working. I'd rather save the monthly payment and use the money if needed
We do not have the extra expenses to be able to afford it.
I am overwhelmed by the amount of different things that require a subscription these days. It is too hard to keep up with. I would rather just pay once if something goes wrong.
It's cheaper to fix as you go.
I am on a fixed income and I can not afford it
I feel 10% off services is not a large enough incentive even with the other listed benefits. HVAC is expensive, I rather hold onto my money and spend it only when necessary. I feel I can upkeep the maintainence on my own.
I would have to do more research and budgeting
I've never really had any problems, so unless I have the money to spare I wouldn't see it as worth it.
I'd fear that if something went wrong the 10% off would not be enough and that ultimately it wouldn't be worth paying monthly for.
Maybe with filter changes included. But experienced and know when to call HVAC help.
The price is too high and I do most of the monthly maintenance and minor repairs on my own.
I'm no sure if would purchase it or not
$24.99 per month is insane. I would benefit far more by investing this money rather than giving it to a HVAC company.
its only 2 visits a year and the 10% discount means nothing because of how expensive the membership is already
It is too much per month for me to be able to afford this membership.
I don't prefer subscription services. I would rather get multiple quotes from different companies and price out what works best for me.
I need to know more information about it, but I am interested.
My equipment is nearly brand new and I'm skilled with HVAC repairs and maintenance myself.
too much money for something that rarely needs service
Over the course of 12 months I can get services cheaper and I would only care to do it once a year.
I would have to know more about what all it offers
I have someone who can do maintenance, and I don't have to pay them.
I'm on a very tight budget at the moment and don't plan to live in this house for long.
I learned many years ago how to fix my own. I have a few rentals I take care of as well. It was just cheaper to learn how to take care of it my self.
I would need to know which company was offering it. I don't trust all companies.
I feel like it ends up costing more in the end and with all the tune ups there is always added costs
seems like a waste of money a new system is like 10k and has a 10 yr warranty also a cleaning is like $120 so cheaper to pay as needed.
Because we have someone we personally know who works in this business and if we feel something is wrong, they'll come and check out the HVAC, so it's a waste of money if we had a plan. He recently installed a new one in our house as well.
We can do the basic maintenance at home. 10% off repairs isn't a substantial discount.
My systems are old they need replacements. Maybe after I put new ones I might consider it.
I need to think about it
I would need to know more about the plan and the cost structures to consider it. If the benefits do not make sense financially I would skip.
I don't have these kind of funds available to me. Money is extremely tight.
I don't have any issues with my system enough to justify the cost.
It is quite expensive
too expensive
It's a regular monthly expense.
seems abit much
Again I said maybe. I would need to see if it is a possible good thing.
It seems like another extra expense and I change my filters regularly.
I could probably spend less just getting service when I need it.
too expensive for the service
seems like an extra expense
Costs do not equal the benefit.
It's too expensive! I can usually find a tune-up special to cost around $60. My electric company also offers a warranty that's only $10/month that does about the same. We also just replaced our A/C last year so don't anticipate issues anytime soon. We do check and clean the unit before each season to catch any issues.
I think I would spend more the subscription than it would be worth.
The only reason I may not purchase it is because of the price of the membership and the age of my current system.
There are not many moving parts to an HVAC system and everything so far I have been able to take care of myself.
Doesn’t seem like our bills make it worthwhile to have a membership at that price
I only have heat for now. If I added on central air, I might do something like this kind of membership.
Sounds a bit expensive. However I might give it a trial for a year or two and see how I like it.
It seems expensive - nearly $300 per year - relative to the amount of value I would get from it.
It just seems like another useless expense
I am not sure the price is worth it for our household given we rarely have any problems.
Waste of money
For my area, 2 service calls a year would be less than the 24.99 x 12 membership fee. I would rather save my money in an emergency fund then add another membership.
I'm not sure that I need/want 2 maintenance visits per year for our HVAC system. What I really want is a significant discount on major work done on the HVAC system. Without telling me what the discount is, how can I decide if this is a good deal for me?
I'm weary about subscriptions especially things I don't know how often I'll use. I've been in my home 5-10 years and have only had to hire an HVAC contractor twice. My husband is also exteremly handy so he may be able to fix minor issues.
I have a couple of family friends who are HVAC technicians that help with maintenance already.
Do I still have to pay for services when they get here? I am not interested in being scammed, the way health insurance is a scam.
“I’d rather deal with it when a problem actually occurs.
I prefer to have a service appointment when something goes wrong
I already have a home warranty plan that would cover my HVAC system if anything were to happen to it.
Too much monthly cost for infrequent or rare usage. Don't trust maintnance not to make up needs.
Not needed. It probably would not save me money if the products needed replacement.
I've had no reason up until this point to see the benefit in this package. In the 11 years I've lived in this house I've only needed actual help (other than the standard yearly servicing) twice for very simple things. I would rather just pay the fees as needed than to pay $25/month for something I would likely never use.
I am unsure if I will need to use it.

i would want the 2 annual services
It's a packaged deal to get 2 in 1
It appears to be a good deal and offers the type of services I would want as a home owner.
I feel that the value of the membership, along with the sensor make sense for my HVAC system. The cost of repairs can be quite high, and I feel that with routine maintenance and the use of the sensor, I could avoid some of the repairs because issues would be caught earlier.
Because it makes me feel secure.
I like the added protection as well as the two free yearly hvac evaluations that are included for the 24.99 and the 5.00 add on for the clip that alerts me of potential issues is a fair price for an add on
Its the all in one package and it has yearly maintenance built in. The maintenance alone makes the monthly price worth it.
I'm not interested in just the censor, it would be better to have that maintained as well.
A good cost for complete specific coverage.
It's good to get your hvac serviced 2x per year which can be around $120 a pop. so was thinking of the money I will already be spending anyway.
I think having the membership would make it easier for me to get maintenance visits instead of putting them off or forgetting about them. Also, I like that this plan can give me priority scheduling and discounts.
It seems like a more complete deal, where I have both the plan service included and the app to help me monitor my system
It just seems like the best deal! I like the idea of getting discounts, priority service, service twice a year, and the monitor.
I would want to be protected all year long
Value, you get more with the service plan.
It is a set it and forget it plan. Just pay for the year.
it seems like the better deal
To have both options I think the sensor is a good addition to have
TAKE MY MONEY NOW! every year i have to have someone come look at my ac unit and when it gets cold every year i have to get someone to come work on my heating its crazy so i would definitely buy the one with the membership and the clip on vent thing for $25 a month HAPPILY
I don’t know how reliable the sensors are by themselves
Things are so costly, maybe the plan would be a good thing./
it is everything i need put together and its a great price
It would fit my situation the best.
There are more benefits and rewards to that option than just the sensor membership.
It combines proactive monitoring with maintenance and repair benefits, so it offers broader value and more peace of mind for a predictable monthly cost.
I think it is a good value because you get the 2 times a year servicing your system which I think one visit is about that cost.
more value for the price
I feel that where I live in a remote location that it would not be easy to have a technician come out and assess my unit.
I like the idea of the sensor and maintenance being all in one
It combines both services
It tipped the scale from a maybe to a yes. I would still need to know more about the plan in its entirety, but having that included really sems like a great value.
I think the membership is valuable because I get priority service and discounts on repairs. I would prefer that for peace of mind.
I am not interested in the sensor on its own because i do not think it would be reliable enough. I would rather have a maintenance tech looking at the physical equipment
Finding there's something wrong is one thing but fixing it costs a lot.
I like the idea of having routine maintenance done so that I don't forget to schedule or wait until something happens before checking the HVAC system
I chose that option because I think it would be the most valuable and smart decision, as you would pay one price to get the membership and the sensor.
I think its a better value, it helps me and the company know when the unit needs to be service. I would not want to pay just for the detector it doesn't seem like a good value.
It is better to have it and not need it, then not have it and need it. Option A had a deal that seemed too good to pass up.
I feel that I would be getting more for my money and at the same time saving on costly repairs in the long run
It includes both so I know my HVAC will be taken care of.
I'd rather have it all for a low cost a month. HVAC costs can run huge, this would protect me.
It seems worth the cash
i think it has the most value .
if im already paying for one thing extra i might as well get it alal so i dont hafta take the effort to do everything myself
I had multiple issues with my HVAC system in he past, knowing that there is such a service and device to save me the trouble ahead of time would worth every penny I would pay for, that's why I wanted the entire service.
I would feel as though my system would be covered, and costly repairs/replacement avoided.
I feel like you're getting the most out of your money if you do the monthly sub for the discounts plus having a detector to assist with the home HVAC health
i think this one gets me the most benefit for the current price
The sensor alone I do not think would do enough but I could definitely see the benefits of paying the 25 a month and having contractors check on my devices.
I think with the plan plus the sensor there's never anything to worry about. I would think the sensor alone requires at least some self education and interpretation to understand it effectively.
seems like the most bang for ur buck
i need something more comprehensive with resources to get things done.
I think the added HVAC maintenance and having a professional check on the system would add to the value and make the monthly price worth it.
I've had many issues with my hvac unit and would feel a lot more comfortable if I had someone come look at it twice a year.
“Why did you choose the $5/month offering?”

Have a newer system and don't need the monthly maintenance
Economically reasonable and actually useful/relevant
Money is tight
It is less expensive and would still monitor the unit.
IT is more affordable and seems to be the better deal.
I'd rather pay less and I think it would be a better value
It is cheaper and you can check the status of your unit anytime through the app, and you invest money toward any possible repairs needed.
purely financial
lower price
It is cheaper.
I would actually be paying for something.
Cost is much tolerable.
I think it's more valuable and a lot cheaper.
Let's me know if there is an issue without spending hundreds a year
I feel more in control of my HVAC system.
Cheaper in the long run I think.
cheaper and possibly beneficial but the other is not imo
Because I would get it back in service credit
Because it is much less expensive and offers a clear benefit.
Reasonable price for a secure feeling
It's a much more reasonable price to pay with my old system
This is way cheaper and the I like the idea of a credit because I know that I will eventually need my HVAC serviced.
I chose b because it is more valuable to me, if i can figure out the issue we usually can fix it ourselves.
If I chose either it would be sensor with the credit. Do not need the monthly for reason stated earlier. New system with part and labor warranty.
Ability to monitor without paying for something I don't need.
The price for what you get seems better. It's a better overall value
I prefer to limit monthly expenses as much as possible. They can stack quickly and get out of hand otherwise.
Its the cheapest alternative to make sure my HVAC system is working and running properly and I think that would a small price to pay for a good service to have that would save alot of money .
The $5 per month seems a lot more reasonable and something I feel I could afford.
cost
It is cheaper for one, but also I really like the idea of earning the credits.
It seems to provide the same value as the membership and it's cheaper.
Less expensive and potentially more useful
just money, i would try it to see if it works for a month
I just liked it better.
It is the best option for me
I still think that saving 24.99 a month would be more useful for me, and using the censor to keep track of issues would overall benefit me
Cheaper
$5 a month is doable and the fact that it builds into a credit is extremely appealing to me.
I would choose that since it's much more affordable and the charge is used for credits. But I also admit that I'm cynical and don't fully trust that it wouldn't exaggerate issues to force me to pay for services that weren't actually necessary.
It is cheaper and does exactly what I would need it to do at a lower cost
More affordable.
cheaper
Since I'm on a budget, the cheaper option.
less money and I get it back
It's cheaper and I don't really need annual maintenance on my system.
I chose the sensor option because you can build up credits towards your next service, that is very appealing to me.
It's a lower up front cost and I like the tracking.
I think the sensor is a good option for only 5$/mo and you get credits too.
It was cheaper
Budgeting reasons.
Its only $5 a month and you said I get credits for it so its free once I have a repair
It's a very affordable option to monitor my system, would make me feel more confident in my system, and is something that can easily fit into any budget. As of now, I don't have any type of plan, so that would be a good, low-cost way to start monitoring my system more closely. I could always add the 24.99 plan later.
I can afford this option.
cost money is tight
i would not need any one to come service my system, as my husband does it, but the device does seem like a great device to add
I can do the rest on my own and I can save the money I would have spent for repairs.
It gives me the main beneift I want at a lower monthly cost. w/o paying for a full membership I might not need.
it is cheaper
Cost
I think is is benifical help keep unit running longer
The monthly cost is what made me choose the decision I did, I would want to save money monthly.
It seems like better value for the money.
Cheaper
5 per month is not much at least, and it would know more than I would if a problem is developing so it could save money in the long run by catching it early.
Seems best for the money
budget doesn't allow for the other. I have kids in sports and takes a large chunk of income.
the 5 a month would be more manageable and it would give me the info I need and I can call my own repair and maintenance company
It's more affordable and things are tight right now.
The other one does not seem the worth the price. Basically cost of a new one by the time it is all said and done.
Spend less money but I am still monitoring HVAC performance
It's cheaper
It's cheaper. I guess, though this is like an insurance plan for your HVAC.
its cheaper
Cheaper
the orice
It mainly comes back to just not having the extra income to spare at the moment. I also don't see the larger amount being worth it in the end. Repairs are very costly, and generally anything that seems preventative or similar to "insurance" always seems to have loopholes.
I'm on a very tight budget, so the $5/month charge would be easier to fit in.
Having just the sensor would be much more convenient. I don't believe that my AC unit needs monthly maintenance so $24.99 per month would be too expensive for us. I don't mind paying $5 a month though for a sensor that is monitoring the health of our unit.
Fits my personal needs and interest in HVAC monitoring.
It seems like a better deal for my money.
Less cost per month. But still having the heads up on needed services and being able to avoid higher costs of mechanic fixes.
Cheaper, catches issues.
It is way cheaper.
It's cheap, but would let me know if something is going on. I would feel like I was wasting money paying for the other in case nothing ever went wrong.
I just want to monitor the health of my HVAC. When a service is needed, I can shop for company that can offer me a great deal.
High value, no cost lost by membership
its small and if not used , it doesnt go wasted. No money loss
That is what I could afford, and also the option that makes the most sense to me personally
Better amount of service for the money spent.
cheaper
it's cheaper and like I said, we are currently trying to reduce spending where we can.
5$ in the monthly subscription would be affordable and almost the price of my coffee so it wouldn't hurt much if I don't get to use all the benefits of the membership.
I feel that I have too many subscriptions as it is. The 5$ is a better deal than the 25$/300$ year. I honestly have subscription fatigue. I would rather pay the 300$ one time payment for a device that gauges my HVAC than have to do another subscription.
cheaper
its cheaper and it will catch if something goes wrong quicker than i could detect.
I feel like it could really give me a peace of mind and it's noticeably cheaper than the other option
money
It is less money and it keeps up with if there would need to maintence before it broke.
bc its cheaper
lower cost
It seems more cost effective.
I just think $25 a month would not be warranted for my HVAC system.
It seems equally effective but cheaper.
It seems more trustworthy than a contractor coming to my house twice a year, he’s definitely going to find “a problem” that needs repair and cost me more money to fix. The sensor will not do that.
Much more affordable and I think it is just as useful
Cheaper and more reasonable.
less money
It's a more affordable option and can help me decide when it's time for a service tech to come look at our unit
Cheaper
It is more cost effective
It seemed more realistic as the option and a cost saving, but it has value to operations
because i need to save anywhere i can and that's the cheapest option
I like the price
I do must if not all my own repairs, the sensor would be a handy tool to monitor my hvac health overall. I may not be inclined to resub scribe to the service after I learn to diagnosis issues from data found by using the sensor.
We currently don't have a lot of extra money. The $5 a month would be minimal and would still hopefully prevent major issues by catching the small stuff.
I'm on a tight budget and would like the $25 a month one but couldn't afford it
It's much cheaper (and I get the money back) and I don't believe HVAC needs to be serviced that often
It's cheaper and much more managable than $25. Things are tight.
it would definitely fit into my budget
it felt like tyhe best most cost effective way to monitor
more convenient and affordable
cheaper and gets the job done
It is cheaper and looks like it provides more benefits.
much more reasonable to my needs
cheaper
I could more quickly rationalize the cost.
It is cheaper.
I think that it would be the best value for the money.
Less expensive, still semi-proactive
It is more simple and affordable
$25 a month is a lot for me. At $5 i would feel like i am getting very good value for the money.
cheaper and more effective
It was the cheapest.
At least the money I am spending, I get back when something comes up to pay for. And there aren't unnecessary costs and visits every month.
Less expensive investment upfront.
It sounds like it is the more affordable option
Its more affordable
What I paid will be credited towards repairs, when needed. The $24.99 a month won't cover hardly anything, just reduced (by how much?) the cost of the repairs/assistance
$5 a month is much more doable and the sensor is useful to detect problems before they become major issues.
Warns me when something happens at a much cheaper price I get back if I need work on the hvac
It is less expensive and I would have to discuss with my husband.
It offers what I value most at a lesser price
less expensive.
I think for the low price of $5 a month, it is very worth it.
It is way cheaper.
It fits my budget and the importance of the matter
I like the idea of monitoring system performance so I can proactively call for service. I also selected this option based on the service credits described earlier.
The sensor seems more affordable and interesting
I would use the sensor so i can be notified if there is a issue with the system. I think that feature would be useful
cheaper option
I think it would be reasomnable in terms of price.
It's much more affordable.
the price
The sensor service is more cost efficient and covers all the bases when it comes to my HVAC system.
Because I don't know if I really need the first and how helpful it would be. The one I choose will help give me peace of mind and is very afforable.
It is cheaper. It seems like a good deal.
It's less expensive, and I get at least something for it.
it still monitors but its cheaper
the cost is more reasonable
There's no downside. I receive better monitoring and understanding of my system, which will allow for care and maintenance, and I still get credits towards repairs for my money spent.
because foreseeing no breakdowns I would get all of my money back
The cost is low enough to make sense
I feel that it is a good option.
I'm on disability and dont have extra money for the more expensive one.
This is a great option for me financially.
I wouldn't want to spend that much a month if I only need the service a few times a year
I would like to be alerted if there is a problem before hand.
Instead of paying $25 a month for something that might not happen.
It is cheaper and allows me to monitor things closely and repair as needed
It is more affordable.
It's more affordable and if I can use what I've paid as a credit to future repairs, that's great
I am not interested in another $30 charge coming out of my account every month.
I do not want to pay $24 dollars a month.
I feel like it is more worth the cost.
If I'm getting credit for future repairs, it seems like a good value.
It's the more affordable option.
It seems like it would be useful
I feel like I would not end up wasting any money this way.
It is something that I can use to see if a problem arises and I like to monitor my safety. It is also cheaper and goes towards a credit.
It seemed more rational and would save me money in the long run.
its seems like a nice thing to have and isnt much a month to help Out with lettinh you get ahead of a problem
Because it is a cheap option and my husband otherwise handles the maintenance
The sensor is something I feel i have control over. I would also like the rolling credit system more than just a subscription.
Because I feel like that's all I would need and the price is much better. It comes down to affordability, but also having some protection.
It is much less expensive.
ACs are generally reliable. I like the idea of using a sensor to monitor my HVAC. If there is a problem, I'll contact service. I liked the idea of the monthly fee, but I suspect the firm would push for me to get a new AC/heating system, which others have done. I'd rather stay focused on maintenance and hopefully hold off the new system for a few more years.
I dislike service plans for most things and don't trust them to give good appliances, etc. For example the program that my neighbor has service repair/replacement and they tried to replace her bosch refrigerator with a Frigidaire
It's cheaper.
lower monthly payment
Cheaper and can alert you when there is a problem.
I chose that option because it's cheaper and I think it is sufficient enough to keep an eye on my heater
I'm poor and my hvac system is fairly new. I like the idea of being able to catch things early and have alerts to change my filters, but I cannot afford 25 a month for such things, even if that includes two service checks a year.
It seems like it will do the trick and be a more affordable option
Seems much more better value - I am still actively monitoring for potential issues, plus I'm getting the money back in the form of credits if there is an issue
Makes more financial sense
Because I really don't trust contractors
Cost.
seemed to be the better value
It was cheaper.
Because the money spent can come back to me as a credit to use on services
$5 per month is a much smaller commitment and it sounds like a very handy service/device.
money savings
I think the sensor adds a lot of value and information.
Times are hard. Its less expensive
I just want the device. I am not interested in paying for the service.
60 is a lot different the 275
Less money and I don't want to pay for HVAC service I may not need
It can tell me if it need maintenance, I probably won't so it will alert me if I do.
It is the cheaper option and it will help me with preventative maintenance costs.
$5 a month might be worthwhile
Budget friendly
it aligns with my budget more. if i could, i would take the other option
Those issues happen far and in between so the cost for only the sensor is a fair price.
better value for the price
I don't feel it is necessary to have the HVAC membership at this time
I would love to have just the information to start with and if I loved the service I would upgrade to the plan with the technician.
5 a month seems reasonable if it actually prevents something major from going wrong.
The sensor has value to me where as I am relatively handy and can handle basic maintenance and some repairs myself.
It is a more affordable option.
it was the cheapest of the unwanted options
netter deal
I would want a heads up if a problem is brewing without the larger monthly service charge.
cheaper option with credit building as monthly fee is paid.
It's just cheaper at first glance.
Because I already have a way to consider calling the HVAC company whenever is needed but adding a device that could tell me ahead of porblem to occur would be beneficial.
Less money and it is actually to detect an issue and I even get the money back in repairs
I can afford that more
The price is much more reasonable and my husband and I like these types of tech gadgets that allow us to monitor things on our own.
I would hope I could gain important information on my unit by this sensor and would know when to call repair. This is a lot less expensive.
Option B is cheaper and I could pay it all at once if I wanted to.
It fits more in my price range and would be valuable to me than the other plan.
Like the lower cost and the opportunity to catch problems before they become major issues.
It is cheaper to me
Seems like a fair price and could be very helpful.
Less expensive and would alert us to a problem that we could fix.
cheaper
I think the sensor alone would give me the info I need to make informed decisions about my HVAC system.
I think it's a better deal overall
This is much more cost effective than the first option.
It is cheaper for the risk associated.
The sensor alone is more affordable for me
It's cheap enough and it would give me piece of mind.
Cheaper, don't need the other services IMO.
I feel like that covers enough for what i would want.
It is more appropriate for my needs.
Just because it is more cost friendly for my families income right not
its cheaper and is what im more interested in anyways
It is much more affordable and I like that it senses problems before they arise.
I would choose the lower cost option.
for me the sensor seemed like the choice because the price but on top of it i could save that extra 20 dollars and put toward service call if needed
I like the low cost option and the money back credit incentive.
Cheeper.
makes more sense to me
I still think the $25/mo fee is too much because I only want one service annually
I would only need the sensor to track when I need maintenance
It seems like a cheaper version overall to reach the same end.
I just think it fits my needs better.
It feels more reasonable
its more affordable and peace of mind, i dont feel i would get the same value out of the other one.
It's cheaper and it comes back to me. I very much prefer something easier like that.
It monitors my system continuously rather than 2x/year and is a fraction of the cost.
I don't like wasting money on what ifs.
It's cheaper
It guarantees the use of my payment(s).
Less money every month to pay.
The price is much cheaper
it is cheaper
cheaper and more practical
Budget, in a serious money crunch now.
It's a cheaper option and I would monitor it.
It would let me know when service is necessary, so I would not pay for unnecessary service.
More economical and probably more trustworthy.
It's just more affordable and I like being able to get a credit back. I feel rewarded for trying to be preventative. The other option is too expensive for our new HVAC to be worth it. I usually like to save that money over time and pay when it's needed.
I would try out the device if it's only $5 a month.
I chose that option because it's easier for me to justify spending $5 vs. $25 considering how old my system is.
it's the cheapest
affordability
I think it's well worth the $5.00 to catch problems early and I think it will save me money in the long run.
I think it provides a better value
I think this is more affordable and I find this more useful to me.
less money
I think $5 a month is more reasonable and fitting for our household budget.
Cost
It basically pays for itself. The credits could be used for any repairs/maintenance.
I don't have much need for a maintenance contract.
I can afford it.
I like the fact there are sensors to monitor.
I feel that $24.99 a month is too expensive.
I like the alert to a problem
The idea of having a sensor that could detect issues ahead of time for only &5/mo (and having that money returned to me in the form of credits to be used for future services if needed) is very appealing.
Cheaper, and the money is accumulated.
Credit back sounds appealing.
I just don't see me ever wanting to pay $25/month for something I'd rarely use, but the $5/month isn't a bad price
it seems like the better deal

Good luck on your study
the clip on is a fantastic idea
Make that 10% at least 30%
The accumulation of the monthly fee. Is more then a yearly service.
As high as ac repair is, 10% off isn't eough. I feel there will be a mark-up in price to offset the 10%. I just don't trust that it would be worth it.
It is an interesting device to be sure.
I might buy the sensor as a one-time purchase, but subscription model is off-putting for me.
I have a new HVAC purchased < 2 years ago so I am assuming I won't be running into any repair/replacement costs in the near future.
Study made sense. No issues
I don't believe so!
I don't think so. Thank you.
I'm not sure I completely trust the sensor to give accurate information. My concern is that it would exaggerate symptoms and prompt me to get unnecessary services.
I have no formal training for hvac systems and I was repairing Ptac units for Marriott after a few hours of youtube and a trip to harbor freight.
It would depend on the cost of the sensors and if the app to monitor them had a monthly or yearly subscription fee in determining how interested I am in those.
Can I have a HVAC for free
I hope this is real, because it seems to be a very cool and affordable way to monitor HVAC systems!
I don't see the value of this product
Just again that I am getting tired of all these subscriptions. Would rather buy stuff outright.
This was an interesting concept. I'll be interested in seeing if it does become reality.
These are not bad ideas.
I like the idea of the $5/month turning into credits for future issues.
The sensor looks great and is something I would be interested in purchasing for our home.
no i just want to do this now
Would like to see what companies provide that sensor. I like that idea.
Would prefer real testimonials and reviews from real users.
75% of my HVAC needs I do myself. A boiler heater and an evaporative cooler, doesn't take a genius to work on.
this was very good!
I think this is a very innovative and useful service
We have a fairly new HVAC system and we change the filter regularly so we are not very concerned right now about problems with it.
Cool idea, many will like it if real.
Keep up the good work!
would this just be on one vent or throughout the home?
I don't think so
I have nothing more to add
I need a new ac unit if you'd like to donate me one!
I would want to know all the benefits of this sensor before I would purchase.
I am more interested in a service if I can get a better price on an annual plan and if that price includes service calls to check the system.
This was interesting and made me think about my system.
HVAC contractors can be a real pain.
this would be super cool
fun quick study enjoyed!
I wish I knew a bit more about what I was doing sadly.
No there isn't anything else I need to share at this time. Thanks for allowing me to take part in this study!
I think it's a really cool idea.
See prior comment. I avoid most smart tech. Just another point of failure in most cases.
No comments or questions, everything was clear.
I think my HVAC system is 6-9 years but it may be newer. I recently bought my house and forget.
There are things I know I should do.
Eating is one of them.
I think that would be great for someone that has a hard time maintaining household maintenance themselves
I think the sensor should just be more expensive and get rid of the subscription model outright. Just make it a premium option.
No. I think this is an interesting concept.
I have had an hvac system for my entire life and have only had to call someone out 2x, and have replaced 1 unit.
I'd totally sign up for the $5.00 plan
Too many monthly payments, would rather it be just a one time payment.
That sensor that clips onto the vent looks big. It would annoy me to have to look at it and I'd have to put it somewhere out of the way.
I want this, how can I get it
the sensor is good but it is useless without the rest of the services .
The credit system is very interesting. Gives a user a sense of protection and not wasting their money.
Subscription models are predatory. Please stop.
If our current HVAC service provider offered a device/service like this (the $5/month option), I think we would definitely consider it.
I would really want to know more about this service if it actually exists!
not everything needs to be a subscription
thank you for including me in your research
Nothing else. Thank you for the invite
Would have to find a company that offers this service in my very rural area.
That 24.99 isn't worth it until the machine gets older
no issues
I can't think of anything else
We live in a world of sensors, apps, and monitoring. It's too much, we did not need this 20 years ago, we do not need it today.
I really like the sensor idea.
Never really thought about HVAC monthly membership, actually like the idea
Sounds too much like disguised insurance to me.
fun and interesting study! Thank you for the chance to participate!
wish i seen this product years ago to help maintain my ac unit
I'm quite interested in that product.
All good -- thank you!
Yes - have a wonderful day.
ty and have a good day
I don't generally like pay by the month plans. I prefer to schedule service myself.
No, I can't think of anything else.
There is nothing else I'd like to share.
I am suspicious of such ideas actually working as intended. I am suspicious of it making false alarms in order to create commissions for the company.
Nope, nothing else! I hope you wouldn't just disapprove of this even though I have finished this.
I would hope that modern HVAC units (made in the past few years) would have remote diagnostic and alerting via WiFi, which would make this kind of sensor irrelevant.
I want more info on what the two maintenance visits a year contain. Will you clean my ducts and the blower? Will my outdoor A/C unit get cleaned?
I think this is a great concept.
Don't trust that the manufacturer or installer wouldn't move/go out of business.
Methodology & scope
Survey design. Single cross-sectional self-report survey, n=998, non-probability panel, surveyed August 26, 2026. All "purchase intent" figures reflect stated intent against a hypothetical scenario, not observed conversion from a live offer. Household income, homeownership status, and actual HVAC spend are self-reported and not independently verified.
Segments. Quadrant sizes (n=139–472) are respondent-determined by branching logic, not quota-set; every cross-segment figure in this report is shown with its underlying n. Quadrant tabs in the source data are filtered views of the full dataset, not independent samples.
"Other" responses. Coded-reason and care-behavior questions collapse free-text "Other" write-ins into a single "Other (free text)" category in Section 03's bars.
